Robust Design-but has niggles, 23 Nov 2009
This is appears to be a really robust product, very heavy and not at all flimsy-only time will tell if it does what it is meant to of course. In use it is rather irksome that it has to put it on using the key-maybe it is because the locking mechanism can be made more secure that way? Anyway it is a faff having to lock it on with a key instead of the more usual 'click to engage and close' that I have seen with other disc locks. I found the pouch it came with to stow it on the bike so small I couldnt get the lock into it, even after taking out the 'plug' part of the lock, it still wouldn't fit so the bag is useless-Abus need to take note and make the bag a better size. The 'Disc Memory' plastic key thingys is very cumbersome on your keyring and I really cant get on with it at all so will use the 'Forget-me-not' instead. Abus have a very useful page on their website which tells you which locks fit which bikes and I checked it before purchasing. They were correct in stating that it fits both our bikes-Yamaha TDM 900 (03) and Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer (2000)

So far so good. Level 20 rating, solid as a rock. Won't stop 'em lifting your pride and joy into the back of van with two lengths of scaffold, but won't get bashed off with a lump hammer either.

Solid and well made this would be very difficult to attack with bolt cutters. I assume it is protected against freezing spray.
