Wolf Freestyle II Textile Jacket - Black

Very stylish and solid jacket

My choice was between a Dianese, Buse Rico, and the Wolf Freestyle. The Buse had no feedback at all, the Dianese was perfect and the Wolf had mixed reviews, but the wolf had the best styling as far as I was concerned, and I'd rather make up my own mind rather than read daft reviews and take them too seriously So, I bought a 42 size, fearful of cold chest, short front and rear letting water ingress between jacket and trouser, and arm poppers coming undone. Yes, the side pocket zips were hard to operate with gloves on, but you wouldn't want to access pockets whilst riding unless you hadn't sorted your ride requirements correctly. To stop, remove a glove to access your handkerchief takes only a minute or so... Well, the fit was perfect, even without the liner, no draft in the chest, or waist area, but yes, lower arm poppers came undone a few times in the early days, but only when jacket was taken off! Never when riding. This has not happened now after a few weeks. The jacket is comfortable, the armour is excellent, the look is stunning, and the 'feel safe' factor is comforting. Yes, I would ride in the rain and expect this jacket to hold out. No, I would not ride in sub zero (or anything below 5-6 degrees), as I have a long waterproof/windproof Hein Gericke for that kind of weather! Appropriate clothing rules! I expect to ride with the Wolf from March/April through to January before I may have to air the HG. My only critique is that with the lining removed, there are no internal pockets for wallet etc. But it is made in the UK, as is my bike, exhaust, riding trousers and gloves...

Great Summer Jacket

This is a great jacket, nice fit I'm a 42 chest and the M size is a perfect fit for me, you need this to be snug fit on to benefit the inner lining to keep you warm and the armour to work if you have a spill.. All wolf gear is top quality and it looks pretty cool as well. Don't expect a winter jacket as this is not, I haven't worn it in the wet yet but pretty sure it would be OK in a drizzle but not in a monsoon..overall well pleased and will probably get the pants to match. Sportsbikeshop were excellent service, fast delivery and swapping size etc.

Slightly disappointing

I wanted a winter jacket for the early rides to work in minus temperatures. After trying many I settled on this. I'm 5'8 inch 40 inch chest and 180lbs. The small fits well, even with a thin body warmer on. The build is quality, with nice features such as a double seal on the main zip and external shoulder armour making it feel more like a jacket than an American football top. I've scored it 4 (3.5 if it was available) because there are irritating design elements that spoil what would otherwise be an excellent jacket. The zips are small with no zip pulls making it impossible to use them with gloves on, the jacket is not wind resistant (I can feel the air seeping through in the chest area, it's less warm than expected so I wear a gillet under it. The bottom is too short so unless you wear the zip in trousers water get past my overtrousers, the neck is too low so I have to wear a neck tube and most annoying of all the pop button adjusters on the arms constantly pop off so I have to reconnect them every trip. I had high hopes for this jacket but am left disappointed.

Warm, good looking jacket

I wanted a textile jacket that would be warmer than my leather jacket but not too bulky. Ideally, it would be British made or, at least, a British company. I've owned the jacket for 1 month. Sizing: I'm 5'6, 137lb, 37-38 inch chest, 32 inch waist with a short torso. I was concerned that the the Wolf 'Small' was declared to be a 40 inch chest (whereas the equivalent Furygan small was a 38 inch). I did try the Furygan but found it too snug around the stomach. Fit: I wanted to be able to add layers so with just a T shirt the jacket is loose on me but as I add layers it fits better. I only intended it for winter use so I cannot imagine removing the zip-out liner. The arms are long, set up perhaps for a sportbike, but not obtrusively long - when secured (by Velcro) at the wrist, they do not bunch up. I ride a naked bike and prefer that my gloves go on the outside of my sleeves and it works out well for me. The waist is adjustable and has a zipper for attaching to pants if required - I don't bother so can't tell you to which pants they will connect. Is it warm? Yes. I haven't been to extensively test it but I rode 30 miles in 9 deg C and it was comfortable - there was a hint of a cool air ingress at the top of my chest but I suspect that was because I hadn't smoothed out the Velcro flap covering the zip, I did not notice it on the return journey. Armour - yes - the new, C3PO type (OK: D3O level 2 CE) - hope I'll never test it. Downside? I'm not sure that having 'Wolf' emblazoned on my back suits my personality, especially since I ride an SV650, on the other hand, I'm 62, can't see it when riding, so I'll let it worry other people! Would I buy it again? Yes.

Got this to go with the Tec tour trousers and I'm glad I did. Went for XL and the fit is superb, can wear jumper underneath no problem but doesn't feel loose with just a T-shirt on either. D30 CE level 2 armour is nice to have included and the adjustments are good. Zip out liner feels like it will keep me plenty warm enough through the British winter and but have not tested in rain as of yet but have no reason to disbelieve it wont do a good job. Connects to trousers just fine, very nice, good looking, comfortable jacket. Only slight negative I can see is the Velcro tab on neck looks like it may be coming away but will keep eye on that.

Great jacket

Excellent product. Really warm for winter riding, full of pockets (with an extra on the inside for the mobile phone). Side zippers need bigger size, they are unreachable if you are wearing gloves. Will look for the pants for sure.

A lot of jacket for your money

So far I have owned this jacket about a week or 2 and it absolutely feels 'quality'. The zips move easily and the Velcro fastening feels of a quality make and unlike my first jacket wont degrade over a year of use. I would recommend going a size or 2 up when ordering as the chest feels fine but you want some more room in the sleeves to layer up under if needed. Not that the cold would be an issue, Ive been commuting to work in sub 10C weather in only a T-shirt underneath because its very warm with the lining inside. Massive plus with D3O armor as well, it keeps the elbows narrow so you can see out your mirrors and superflexible, can barely feel that you have armour on. A lot of jacket for your money.
