Good, But Not As Good As I Had Hoped
Like most of you out there reading this, I've experienced issues with built in armour knee pads not sitting correctly, twisting, moving up with the trousers and generally being a pain in the butt. So, having read other riders' reviews on the Know Flex Lite Knee Guards, I took the plunge. Unfortunately there was a lengthy delay in stock coming in, so SBS's usually super fast delivery service was not in play for this particular item. But when they did arrive I was pleased with the quality and flexibility of the knee pads - no hard edges digging into flesh. The upper inner ring of the material is lined with several lines of a rubber compound (as you find on the soles of those 'slipper socks' to prevent folks breaking their necks on a slippery floor) in order to prevent excessive movement once one your knee, plus they are elasticated - the band itself is about an inch tall with double stitching on both upper and lower edges of the banding. The material used is vented by hundreds of small holes,as it is the same material used for numerous sporting tops (ice hockey, American football, etc), so no getting sweaty to a massive degree. Nice and breathable, plus light in weight. At the rear of the knee pad 'sock' is the fastening strap - elasticated material fitted with velcro. This measures approximately 13-14 inches long by 2 inches wide. The overall length of the knee pad tubing is 10.5 inches from top to bottom, with the knee pad itself occupying 8.5 inches inside the tubing. Positioning this knee pad is crucial. For myself, I have found placing the upper most edge of the curved section of the knee protector so it just sit on the upper edge on my knee cap gives (again, for me) the best, and most naturally comfortable fit - both standing and sitting. The only down side - motorcycle trousers of a casual design, like motorcycle denim, has a tendency (on me) to ride up over the course of a journey - gear changing, putting foot/feet down when at a stop, putting them back on the pegs, etc - and they stay in that gathered state due to the knee pads holding their position, thus preventing the material from sliding down easily. This makes for often, chilly shins. But my biggest gripe and minus one star - the velcro straps. These can move during the course of your ride, again due to the above actions I mentioned earlier. Not always both at the same time, but mostly, for me, it was on the left leg. This results in the stapping biting into your tendons at the back of your knee, the severity of which differs each time, but it does, nonetheless, become distracting and at worse, quite painful. So you are left with a dilemma: do you pull them so tight as to interfere with the blood flow in your leg, or experiment with the positioning of the strapping? I've done both and both appear to have worked, but eventually the straps move - the only varying factor is where they come to rest. Sometimes they are not uncomfortable and cause no pain/discomfort, and other times it feels like someone has a cheese wire slicing into your tendons. Overall, good to a point, but not perfect. I will still continue my search for 'the one', but until then, the experimentation of positioning the knee pads and straps goes on. Happy, safe biking, folks, thanks for reading.Read more

I got fed up with the armour in my jeans moving around, these are perfect. Decent quality and pretty comfy as well once you get used to them! Would definately recommend.Read more
Great for biking jeans
Very good quality and designed for a little breathability. Solved my problem with biking jeans - with regular armour, by the time I sit on my bike with sporty rear sets, the armour was badly out of place. As this fits well around the knee and independent of trouser fit, they properly protect my knee caps.Read more
Great under jeans
The quality is excellent on these just getting used to how tight they need to be and whether the strap goes above below or on the knee. Reasonably comfortable to wear for long periods. Would recommendRead more
Snug fitting but not too tight
Snug fit over the knees but not too tight. No pinching when knees are bent which was a worry. Bought these to wear under jeans in the summer and they look like they will be perfect for this.Read more
I chose to buy these knees guards after reviewing the price of kevlar jeans with protections. For now this is the best option for those who can not spend that much money.Read more
