Cant fault it!!
On my second one of these and still love it. The fit is spot on, it's very light and comfortable and once on you barely notice it. With the way it almost wraps round at the base it is also very quiet.Read more
An excellent helmet from shoei. I was pleasantly surprised by how light this helmet is. It's everything you'd expect from a top manufacturer, built well, sturdy, light weight & comfortable. The internal sun visor is a great feature.Read more
Excellent fit, high quality helmet
I was hunting for my first helmet, started with a very optimistic £120 budget. I wanted a safe, great looking helmet with drop down sun visor. The only reason why I gave 4 star, as it is only Sharp 3 star. Due this, I have sent it back and upgraded to a Gt Air 2, hopefully the rating on that will be better! :)Read more
Good but not outstanding
So I have had an AVG K3 SV, IS MAX 2 and an RPHA 70 thus far. Bike is a 2018 z1000sx with a power bronze screen. The GT air feels the lightest out of the 3 and has the best build quality of the 3 (the RPHA 70 is not very far off though). The sun visor on the rpha 70 is better and comes lower for me but optical clarity is similar. The visor mechanism on the gt air is the hardest of all of them to take off and put on but has the best quality visor and the seal is tighter than the others. the finish of the paint is the same pretty much on all three. the interior on the gt air is comfier and more plush than the others but again the rpha 70 is very similar. you can get glasses in no problem, despite its snug but comfortable fit but you do have to wedge them in where as my hjc's they just slide in. Ear pockets are decent in all the helmets and my cardo system fits fine with all 3. easiest with the HJCs then the shoei and lastly the AGV. Aero is very good and you can tell its slippery through the air. not a significant difference between it and the rpha 70 that I can notice and headchecks not an issue neither is buffeting on either. Oddly for a helmet called GT air the air flow is non-existent. When I mean non existent I'm not exaggerating! I was expecting a Mohawk of air across my head but I cant feel anything at all (to the point I checked if the vents were actually open or not or even block/functioning with the switches). The rpha 70 has the best flow. With the gt air I've tried all combinations of vents open and closed but there is literally no air movement inside. my glasses fog up 2 seconds after putting them in and riding with the visor closed causes fog on the back of the pinlock (not between visor and pinlock) but between pinlock and my face (?faulty pinlock). The visor has a city position but its useless, it barely even a crack and makes no difference which means you have to go up 1 notch and bear the subsequent cold air in your face blast. I have to keep lifting it up in traffic or at red lights. I wear ear plugs (alpine motor filtered ones, race version) and using these it the quietest of the helmets followed by the rpha 70. without them in or using the touring version of my ear plugs its unbearable. There is an odd resonance inside the helmet, it felt like the noise wasn't muffled but actually amplified and louder. my ears were ringing in the 1st minute. On the plus side exhaust sounded epic! closing the top vent reduces the noise. with the top vent open I do get a chirping/whistle but not enough to pay attention to. Getting in and out of the gt air is hard work as the opening is tight. I'm a 56.9cm and went with the small as the mediums in my other helmets after break in are clearly too loose to be safe (unless its winter and I'm wearing my balaclava). Once its on though it fits great and perfectly to my head shape. Overall you can see why people like this brand due to the build quality etc. However at the full retail price I wouldn't purchase it and instead buy 2 rpha 70's for the price! they really are not far off in terms of quality etc with better airflow which means it will be good for summer also. Having said that I got a crazy price match and given what I paid for it on balance I am quite pleased with it.Read more
A perfect helmet
This is a fantastic helmet and following the sizing guide I found it to be a perfect fit. The noise level was better than I expected. I would recommend this helmet and its worth the cost...especially when Sportsbikeshop have a 10% off sale!Read more
I have tried several helmets to replace my old Shoei but kept coming back to this one as being the right mix of good fit, comfort, weight and features. The addition of the sun visor is great and makes a real difference. Yes, it does cost more but I have tried cheaper helmets and they just don't make the grade compared to the GT Air. You certainly get what you pay for when it comes to Shoei. Highly recommended.Read more

Simply an excellent helmet
I didn't think I had a Shoei head until I tried the GT-Air. It fits like a glove and the design features are well thought out too; the sun visor is a major safety boost in changing light levels. Ventilation is adequate and the padding strips out easily to fit comms gear and the peripheral vision is very good too - much better than my old Arai. Very worthy of consideration.Read more
I have always preferred top of the range helmets. I believe you pay for what you get. So it was nice to see Shoei incorporating an internal sun visor in there helmets. I work night shifts and traveling home after a long heavy night with tired eyes and being greeted to that rising sun burning the back of your retina's out you need all the help you get and I am pleased to say they have done a cracking job of incorporating it in the design. It's effective and the tab you slide is easy to find and operate. It goes in the opposite direction to what you expect but you get use to this easy. The fit is snug and suits those with thin faces as per usual with Shoei. The vent are easy to find and operate the ones on the top of the lid are especially effective at keeping the top of you nice and cool on those roasting days and long trips. I did find the visor mists up quickly at stand still but when I fit the Pinlock provided I'm sure this will not be a problem. The visor action is positive and secure. On fitting I feel there is a little less depth in the helmet and at first could feel it on the top of my head through the padding probably because of that vent system on the top but after some wearing in it seemed to feel a lot better. Its fitted with a system for easy removal for first aiders so safety is a primary consideration. Cheek pads etc are removable for cleaning and fitting of comms systems. Noise levels are very good a great improvement on my recent AGV and of course the build quality is far superior. It may be expensive compared to competitors but you pay for what you get.Read more
Lightweight, great features and top looks
Compared to my previous Shoei I can barely even feel this when it's on, that's how comfortable and practically featherweight this helmet is. The flip down visor is convenient and easy to use, the ventilation is noticeable with the visor down and the visor itself stays exactly where you want it. I was possibly expecting it to be a little quieter having read a whole host of reviews ranting about how quiet they are but it's definitely quieter than most lids and I couldn't recommend it more - well worth the money.Read more
