Good boots.

Initially quite stiff, as you would expect from a boot with good protection, but broke in quite quickly and are now super comfy, even for my relatively wide feet. Fit well under jeans, and the rear zip closure is easy to use. I can't vouch for the waterproofing 'cos they haven't yet seen rain, nor can i vouch for the crash-proofing 'cos i haven't yet crashed in them, but I have no reason to doubt they will be up to job in either event. Come with a spare pair of laces too which was a nice surprise.

Smart, comfotable and sturdy

I have a few pairs of Alpinestarts boots; racing & touring. They've always kept me safe when I've come off, so this pair for a more casual look, were a no-brainer. I wasn't disappointed. I have narrow size 42 feet and these boots fit spot on. The quality feels superb and they're really comfortable to walk around in. The laces work and the tops tuck neatly behing the strap. Once you've got the right fit you can just use the zips on the side to get in and out. I've not come off in them yet (and hopefully won't) but they feel as secure as my SMX6 boots.

Amazing boots!!

They look great and feel really comfortable. I have slightly wider feet so I selected the next size up which works out well. I haven't had a chance to try them in the wet so will do when I get the first chance. The customer service in the MK branch was top notch and made the experience very good and positive.

Very disappointed

It saddens me to give give review, after reading every other positive review here - but, I have to be honest based on my own experience. These boots are narrow, four-and-a-quarter inches at the widest point of the sole, so probably four inches inside. I have not got broad feet, quite the opposite, and I found these to feel on the cramped side when wearing, to the point of making the toes on my left foot feel slightly pinched and uncomfortable after time walking about the house. It was a relief to take these off. When your feet are in these boots, they are pushed forward slightly from the heel of the boot, which again, leads to that cramped feeling and eventual discomfort. Size-wise, I range from 9, 9.5 to a 10, depending on country of origin producing the footwear. In these Alpinestars I originally ordered the 9.5, but found them to be unsupportive around the heel, allowing too much movement forward, and feeling rather 'clumpy' when walking. So I exchanged for my usual size 9. Once on, there is no mistaking the support these boots give around the ankle and above the ankle, thanks to the rear and side straps - though I'd imagine guys with larger calves might have issue with this. The leather itself is going to take a bit of breaking in, so I would imagine wearing them on the bike from day one would be a bit hit-and-miss to begin with when changing up and down the gears and braking. BUT - and this is why I have give this 2 stars - these are dangerous boots. Why? The rubber on the sole. On any surface that has a slight polish to it, be it a manhole cover, concrete, tile, wet floor, even foot pegs, these things DO NOT GRIP and slip as if you are on ice. Unsure what compound rubber is used, but I seriously think riders have to be aware, especially in wet conditions, these could result in, at least, foot slipping off your pegs, to at worst, base foot loosing traction and causing you to drop you bike through lost footing. The other aspect of the soles on these boots is the underside of the boot almost feels rounded, giving you a rolling feel when stood or walking - not at all flat and level with the ground; another problem I'd have using these on my bike as it offers a minimal surface area of contact with the road when coming to rest at lights, junctions, etc. Again, these are only my experiences from wearing these boots - even causing me to slip on my kitchen floor due to water spilled near our dog's water bowl. Unfortunately all packaging went out in recycling the same day I got the boots, so I can't return them, so I'll try my best to break them in and use them for winter dog walking, but not for bike riding. I know this review contradicts the majority of other reviewers here, but as I said, this is based on my personal experience - I may have just been unlucky and received a duff pair, who knows? But there you have it. To sum up: 1) Very narrow fitting - not recommended if you suffer from foot issues (corns, bunions, etc). 2) Will require breaking in - and for those in the forces or ex-forces, think back to the days of your new issue boots. Enough said. 3) And this is the main reason I CANNOT recommend them: the sole - dangerous on smooth/wet surfaces. Zero grip. Happy, safe biking, folks.

Best looking boots.

Great looking boots, for me these don't have downsides regarding comfort or style. Protection could be better, but you can't have everything. So my rating is 4.5. Still if you searching for this style, must buy.

Great boots, dry and comfy fit

I'd originally looked at TCX Hero boots but they weren't as high as I'd like so went with these A* boots. Construction is very good and they've proved themselves to be 100% waterproof (with trousers over the top). They're out of the box comfy and perfectly acceptable around the office.
