Good Sat Nav
I am familiar with Garmin Sat Navs for cars and the interface on this is the same so easy to navigate and set up. The adventurous routing is a great feature as is the circular route function. Has loads of other features that need a smart phone link to work, I haven't used them yet but may try them in the future. 1st time update took a long time over wi fi but did eventually complete. Is compatible with Basecamp which allows you upload other routes onto the device. All in all happy so far. Delivery from Sportsbikeshop was spot on and the price very competitive.Read more

Where am I with my Sat Nav
Loving the Sat nav but took a week to arriveRead more
Had a 345 was excellent until it was stolen this 346 is poor tries to turn you down roads that don't exist and if not careful sends you around and around the same route been back to manufacturer who say no faults but can assure you it is not a patch on previous oneRead more
Usual Garmin Quality
Good quality fittings. Easy to fit. Easy to use. People say Basecamp is hard to use but if you watch the instructional videos you shouldn't have a problem. I bought mine from Sportsbikeshop which delivered next day and was the cheapest around as far as I could see.Read more
Excellent item as described works brilliantly. Easy to use and see even in sunlight. Great service from sbs as usualRead more
Replacement for the Zumo 550
Been using a second hand Zumo 550 for the last 3 years but the cradle broke on our last trip and as it is no longer made I was unable to find a replacement cradle. Spent a week or so deciding whether to go Garmin or Tom Tom but after weighing up pros and cons the cheaper price and the additional media options of the Garmin won, plus I actually like basecamp now I understand how it works! This unit isn't radically different to the older Zumo 550 which on the one hand is slightly disappointing but on the other made it easy to get to grips with. The new extra features such as phone messages and notifications is good but can become a pain if like me you spend most of your riding time 2 up with connected headsets sharing music. The operation of the unit is more responsive and a lot quicker than the older Zumo 550 I had so you can actually plan routes easier directly on the unit which I found a real pain on the older unit.It is still a little dodgy with Bluetooth between unit, headset (scala Q1) and phone (iPhone 6) constantly disconnecting! Overall I am happy with the purchase and the unit is a good upgrade from the Zumo 550. Sportsbikeshop in Leeds were the nearest outlet to me (3 hour round trip) showing stock and as I expected the service and price was second to none letting me have a play with the unit first to help make up my mind.Read more
Vey poor quality unit with ill thought out design
I bought this unit to replace a faulty TomTom but I've ended up with a whole host of other problems. Firstly the practical aspects of the unit and it's attachment to the bike. Unlike the tom Tom Rider, Garmin require you to leave the cradle fixed onto the machine so the cradle and the wiring are out in the elements all the time your bike is and are therefore subject to the danger of water ingress and theft or vandalism. The use of the keypad is very poor as the response of the screen is very slow and the touch screen is very slow to respond and regularly doesn't recognise the selection. The unit I have has only been used on one trip. It failed to turn on at all for one leg of my trip down to Cornwall but fortunately I know the route quite well. In terms of the software, the keyboard is split with a scroll button to switch between the left and right side of the keyboard. Whilst this is handy because it makes the buttons larger and therefore theoretically they should be easier to use (see the previous connects on the unresponsive screen), but the downside is that you constantly have to scroll left and right so you can almost end up using twice as many keys to type the same address as on a single screen keyboard. This surely will add extra wear and tear to the unit over an extended period of use. Also the software (with the latest update gave conflicting routes with those provided on a fellow rider's BMW branded Garmin (also with the latest updates) so this too is not very impressive. All in all I'd avoid this unit and any other cheaper ones in the TOM Tom and Garmin range as they are not very good in function or reliability.Read more
Decent for the money
With a discount voucher, I got this unit for a decent price. Easy enough to fit, but my Africa Twin has an electrical accessory socket under the pillion seat so the power cable is too short. Unit itself works fine, boots up quickly, routing works well so all good - my only complaint is that it puts up traffic warnings when there's nothing there...Read more
