Verified Customer Reviews for Shoei NXR 2
This is my third NXR2 Shoei helmet. Love the way it fits perfectly. Very quiet. Lightweight. Top quality. Bought another so soon because I prefer the double d ring fastener, not the ratchet fastener. Sorted for helmets for quite awhile.
Getting back into biking after 20 years. I went with this helmet as had a 5 star sharp test. First I started with a medium and changed to small. Easy to arrange and tried in store. This helmet feels quality. Great service from Sportsbikeshop.
Had a few Shoei helmets. They have all been a good fit and this one is no different. It's comfortable and I like the design. Plenty of vents, although it's been to cold to use them at the moment.
The fit & finish of the helmet is good, the interior is soft though the skull cap is a little loose fitting, more so than previous Shoei helmets I've owned. In use it's quiet & stable however it's not really suitable for a sportsbike. At the back of the helmet there is a shaped lip which is fine on a upright bike but on a sportsbike in a prone position, this lip fouls on the neck collar of clothing forcing the helmet forward into a position which is not comfortable & good for vision.
So in summary great helmet but for more focussed bikes, get a track biased helmet.
After a lot of trying helmets on I settled on the NXR 2, fitting my massive noggin like a glove and give me many pleasurable miles over the next few months.
Then I recently crashed in it!
Thankfully slow speed but the helmet did exactly what you want it to, protected my noggin and I came away only with a slight bruise on my chin where I hit the helmet on the road primarily.
Wish I could afford to replace it with a second one tbh!
Comfortable helmet, great design, feels secure when riding. Happy customer.
Love this. Got a couple of Shoei open face and this is just so quiet, comfortable and light. Really pleased and won't disappoint.
Great services as always from SBS.
Significantly quieter than my previous Glamster, comfortable and lightweight. Very good service from Sportsbikeshop sorting the correct size and inserts through the post. Very happy with the overall experience.
Owned the previous generation NXR helmet and can confirm this is an upgrade in comfort and I like the super simple vents and exhaust.
Might just be me but compared to the older model it feels colder on my baldy head on cool mornings.
My first Shoei ... and I wish I bought one a lot sooner. Very light helmet, high build quality, superb comfort, excellent venting, plush lining, great aerodynamics. The visor ratchet is a little unrefined compared to similarly priced AGVs and Sharks (K6, Spartans) but the central lock on the NXR2 is way nicer to use than either of those 2. Overall an excellent, high quality helmet.
Light, not that noisy, excellent performance up to now
I'm comparing this to my older helmet...
Fits well, comfortable and visor is easy to swap out.
Venting is better, and generally feel cooler in this even though I don't get much direct air blowing it's more of a diffused air which I prefer. Even when closing all the vents the helmet feels comfortable.
Noise is hard to compare but I found I wasn't wearing my plugs as often which tells me it wasnt as loud but does resonate certain noises differently and it was a reminder to use plugs.....
Vision... The c3 had a wider fov imo... My life savers could easily give me a wide view of what's behind me. Not that this lid has a poor fov but it's something I've noticed.
Weight.... It feels lighter and stable at motorway speeds.
Rainy weather.... I found water made its way down the inside of my visor and the pin lock got a little overwhelmed. I just adjusted the inbuilt tension switch which tightened the seal between the visor and rubber seals and it seemed to fix the issue. I think shoei brand of pinlock is okay but I prefer the max vision pinlocks. They both done a good job of stopping the visor from foggin.
Had a Shoei James Hayden replica a few years back as a birthday present. Quality Helmet that did the business when I crashed hard on a track day at Oulton Park. This NXR 2 is a quality product with a high standard of fit and finish that looks and feels superb. Rapid delivery and a good price mean I use Sportsbikeshop now for all my gear. Returns not a problem if something doesn't fit right. No brainer, quality products at good prices.
Really wanted a Shoei for quite a while, I tried this against a similar AGV and it just felt right straight away. I'm really pleased with this helmet, it's comfortable, quiet and looks fantastic.
By far the best helmet I've had.
It's quieter than my previous Arai and Scorpions.
It's also very comfortable for my head shape (Herman Munster).
I do wish it had an internal sun visor though.
Purchased a NXR2 online to replace a worn-out Shoei touring helmet - I didn't want the extra cost of drop down visors or intercoms so this more 'sporty' model seemed ideal.
Arrived next day and I was very pleased: it's comfortable, quiet, light and fits more snugly that my old Qwest. Also uses double D-rings which I find are best.
Thought I might have issues with the 'snap-down' visor but release button is fairly easy to operate even with gloved hand.
Ps. I later tried the GT Air2 in shop and really disliked the new bulky strap retention buckle so looks like I made the correct choice!
Bought this helmet to replace my aging GT Air. Can't believe how light and comfortable it is. Fits like a glove and is so quiet.
Bought this to replace my old NXR, comfort levels are pretty similar but the NXR2 is much quieter. New visor system is a bit fiddly compared to old but once you're used to it, it's much better
