Xena XZZ6 Disc Lock - 6mm Pin
Customer Product Reviews
Well it has everything I needed. Easy battery install, enough keys, easy mount and the function I personally liked the most is the warning sounds when it's activated and moved . It doesn't activate the alarm right away and you have just enough time to deactivate it with a key. The alarm it self is loud enough. I hope I will never need it.
No False Alarms!
Already purchased one of these disc locks a few years ago. I've bought two different models of Xena alarmed disc locks since and this is the only one that doesn't suffer from false alarms. Can't understand why Xena can't put the same technology and build quality into the XX15, XX14 and the 8008 but clearly there are problems. Unfortunately this lock is the most flimsy in the range and can easily be snapped off. Use only with a decent chain and ground anchor is my advice!
Disk Lock and Alarm
Unit is nice and compact and the alarm is loud. Unlocking is not always straightforward - sometimes the key doesn't engage easily and the alarm triggers before you can disengage it. Not appreciated by the neighbours early on Sunday morning!
Nice Compact Disc Lock
Ordered this Xena Disc Lock after looking at the reviews and comparing other alternatives. It arrived promptly after ordering on-line. It seems well-made and although it's not very big, the alarm does seem to throw out the 110db it claims. It would certainly get the attention of folk nearby if any ne'er do well was tampering with your bike. One thing to bear in mind; the supplied battery comes in a tight-fitting plastic wrapper. It always helps if you take it off before you put it into the disc lock...
Not long lasting
Bought this item last august, used it for the rare occasions where I leave my bike unattended in town. Must have used the lock less than 10 times, and I am being generous with 10. The lock does not close anymore, some mechanism must have broken inside. Shame because the alarm is definitely loud enough and would do the job. Other people seems happy with theirs, was mine a faulty one ? Anyway, £30 for less than 10 uses is not great.
Alarm is good
My main worries with this were that: 1) The alarm would good off all of the time and annoy my neighbors. 2) The alarm would not go off when I needed it. I've found that the alarm is really good, I live on a fairly busy narrow street and keep it on the front disk. The vibration from cars driving by does not set it off, however if I tug at the cover or bump it in any way it will go off. Keep in mind there is one main limitation here in that if you cover the speaker with your hand you can effectively silence it. This is important in case you accidentally bump it so you don't annoy everyone around you, but not sure if a thief could cover it while angle grinding it to bits.
