Keis X20 Heated Body Warmer - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Just what I needed!
Fed up of having to layer up so much that I can hardly move.. put this beauty on and was as snug as a bug), hard wired into bike rather than battery pack and it was enough to do. Was going to order a large but read that should go size down, I did and it fits perfect
Well made, it does it's job
The product is well made and it is doing it's job without any complaint. It's also good looking. The informative materials are complete. I would advise those who purchase it to choose a much smaller size than their normal one. My size is M, I purchased the XS size and it fits me perfectly.
Probably the most useful piece of clothing short of waterproofs. Follow the size recommendations and you can't go wrong. A quality product that makes a huge difference in cold or damp weather. The service from SBS is legendary, no other retailer betters their service. I have one issue, I should have bought one of these years ago! The temperature control works perfectly and the overall experience is well worth the purchase. This is the second heated body warmer I've purchased from SBS, the first was for my son who can't fault the product. It's a quality garment and is very well designed.
Even on a day when the outside air temperature was an indicated 10 degrees, and with the jacket on the lowest power setting, I've been enjoying the extra warmth. The sizing on the Keis body warmer is generous. Typically I'm a 'Large' size. I went for XL to start with to allow for wearing a thick jumper. I ended up with a Medium. The Keis heated jacket or body warmer are most effective when they fit snugly. Tight enough to heat you and not the air between your layers of clothing. 8 days across Spain in temperatures from -4c to +14c and the jacket has been exactly what was needed. I have been the only person on the trip not complaining about the temperatures. Even when turned off the jacket is a superb and thin body warmer. Well worth the money!
Firstly this is a great product and works really well! Especially when combined with a pair of Keis heated gloves or inner gloves! However, sizing is all over the place! These jackets HAVE to be tight fitting to work properly. They should be worn over a t-shirt or base layer and be a snug fit. I wear an XL Wolf textile jacket, started by ordering an XL. This would have fitted if I wanted to wear it out. However, was too bulky under my jacket. I've now worked my way down and finally ordered a SMALL!! Luckily SBS were great and had no problem exchanging any of them. When ordering, start by getting one size lower than the jacket you wear. Depending on what sort of motorcycle jacket you wear, you can work your way down. A loose fitting touring jacket for example should be OK with one size down. But a tighter sports style or leather bike jacket will more than likely require an even smaller size. Elasticated stretch panels at the side make it a lot easier and more comfortable once worn and really comfortable. The other important thing to remember, is that these jackets are not designed to keep you hot, just not cold. They keep you at a nice ambient temp by replacing the warm air naturally lost when riding in cold temperatures. Weird experience at first but you will find riding in the cold a lot more comfortable and easier to concentrate on actual riding, rather than being cold! A heated jacket is a must for anyone riding all year round and especially longer trips. The higher collar on this item, really adds extra comfort and stops cold air getting down your neck, provided you are comfortable with a snug collar! Tanks Keis and SBS, really pleased with purchase. Only 4 stars due to confusing sizing and I think extra cables required to connect gloves should come with it, rather than needing to be purchased extra!
Having had the Keis X5 vest for some years, I decided to update to the Keis X20. This is a big improvement. Neck and upper back excellent, could do with a little more heat on the lower back though. Pockets for main cable and heat controller great idea. Only needed low setting on even on coldest day. A good buy for any winter rider.
Warm and good quality
Very nicely made product, feels really robust and nice to wear. Not too thick or bulky. Heats up very quickly and kicks a fair punch at full power! My only bugbear is that the electrical connector plugs (branded Keis) are located under the arms for heated gloves (who wants those anyway?) and are quite large and solid, so could cause injury in a crash - might look to try and remove these on mine...
A top product that just does what it says it will do. Purchased as a present for my wife (she says she 'runs cold') and she is delighted. I was nervous on the size but went with the advice to go smaller and it was spot on. Recommended.
Well pleased with the 2 Keis X20 we bought for winter. Having moved back to Wales with our bikes, I bought 2 bodywarmers for myself and Deb. They came up large, even after buying size S instead of my usual L. Was returned for an XS from Sportsbikeshop within 2 days. Cable connection was easy fit for my Super Tenere and got an Optimate lead connector for Debs GSR600. Plenty of controllable heat from 2x chest pads and 1x back pad plus collar. Only improvement would be another heat pad for kidneys. Light and comfy, should pack up small for summer tours in the Alps. Definitely recommend!
I am very impressed with this body warmer, it does what is says. Sizing is odd as you need to go down two sizes to find the correct fit. Electrical connections where easy to fit and instructions very clear. This is a great piece of motorcycle kit and is comfortable to wear, even before turning it on.
Toasty winter warmer
Recently bought this a a Xmas prezzie from my wife and I've already started using it. I went 1 size down from my usual size and it's a good fit. To be honest, I could have gone 2 sizes down and it would've fitted, and probably would've been a bit warmer as it needs to be in full contact with your body to get the best heat transfer. It came with the free heat controller too, which is worth quite a few extra quid. Without the controller it would be on maximum all the time. And that's far too hot. It heats up in just a few seconds and my usual string on a chilly 5C morning is medium. I've not tried it on the lowest setting yet, but I expect it would be just right for them spring morning rides. Very good quality and an easy fitment to your battery. Just jump on your bike, plug in and toggle to your desired heat setting and you're away. The heated panels in the collar are a fantastic idea and really make the difference on a shitty November commute on the M25. It has a dedicated zippered pocket for the heat controller and another for the power lead and so wouldn't look out of place as casual wear once you get off your bike. After nearly 50 years of motorcycling this has been a revelation in keeping warm and alert in the winter months.
Great service from Sportsbikeshop and DPD as always. This is now on my essential kit list. I commute 80 miles a day in all weathers, and This helps keep me warm when the temperature gets into single figures. I even rode for 1hr in 2 degrees and was fine with just this on high setting, 1 thermal base layer and my 3 layer jacket. The element patches are a but smaller than I expected, and there is no kidney cover. The thickness makes my neck slightly more immobile than I like, but then again it does keep me warm, and I am still better off that wearing multiple base layers. All in all TOP KIT!!
Works well and impresses as a very well designed and well made garment. Connections for heat controller, power lead and other garments are substantial and fit together well. The best aspect however is how idiot proof the clear and simple instructions are, particularly on which of the various supplied fuses should be used for the various possible combinations with other heated equipment in the range. This vest had an excellent heated collar. My one niggle is the lack of a heated pad in the lower back area. However overall this is an excellent buy.
Happiness is warmth
I have been riding bikes since my first Honda 50 on fields when I was 11. I've had heated clothing before but this kit is just superb, Sportsbikeshop should be paying me a fee as after a short trip to Ireland last weekend I have been battering my mates with 'you must buy this kit it is the difference between OK and toastie'. I cannot recommend it the kit and the quick service highly enough. Top work chaps!!
If like me you're getting a bit older this type of kit is really good. Heats up quickly and with the 3 settings provides natural warmth so you actually forget it's cold...especially if you have gloves too! Sizing: I am 6'3 with a natural 48 inch chest and usually buy XXL. The XL was way too big. I ended up with L after trying the medium which was just a tad too tight for my liking. That said it would have been OK just not for my comfort. Good kit that you'll wonder how you ever lived without...yes it's a bit of a faff before you ride, but on longer riding days it's worth that faff for the comfort.
