Alpinestars Andes Drystar Textile Jacket - Fluo
Customer Product Reviews
Excellent, comfortable, warm and dry.
I ordered a couple of jackets as I wanted something a bit more substantial for the coming cold. The Alpinestars was league's ahead, I love it. The fit was excellent and there aren't too many zips, flaps, poppers and Velcro so it does take 10 minutes to put it on.
Really good at keeping you cool in the hot and also great at keep you warm in mild to chilly weather. I havent used it in the winter yet, but there is plenty of room for layers. The jacket fits so well and is very comfortable. With the Alpinestars Nucleon KR-2I Back Insert, you dont lose any comfort. In fact, it feels like it isnt even in the jacket it is that comfortable and form fitting. Best jacket I have had in years.
No problems here
I'm half gibbon - slim with long arms so often struggle to get good fitting clothes. I went for a large size to get the arm length; it's fine. Body fit is ok with a jumper. Waist straps good. It has numerous pockets and I'll need a system to help me remember where I've put everything Can't comment on it's waterproofness as it hasn't rained for ages :)
Good waterproof jacket
I'm a 43" chest 33" waist and got a L(54). The fit is perfect if I wear just a thin layer of clothing underneath. If i'm going to wear a thick fleece or a few layers etc I'd have to go for an XL. The cut of the jacket fits great for a sports bike, no bunching up of the jacket in the front when leaning forward. Proved itself 100% waterproof in the recent storms the UK has had. My only negative is that there is the typical gap in the thermal layer at the zip in the front so if you're not wearing a lot of layers you feel the cold on your chest. Why can't manufacturers just add an extra bit of material to the removable thermal jacket that folds out under the front zip? This is a great jacket, the yellow high viz is pretty noticeable, loads of pockets which have also proved waterproof. Recommended.
Excellent well made jacket
I've been commuting into Edinburgh in this jacket for two weeks now. It's early January cold and very wet. This jacket keeps everything out. It's very warm, has a zip in thermal liner , and has kept me totally dry. Armour fits me perfectly with no adjustment. I did buy one size larger as other reviewers advised and it fits perfectly. Having said that there is ability to adjust the upper arms and waistline if needed. Not tried in the warmer weather yet but this is excellent for colder wet weather.
Good kit and value
Good quality, warm and dry. It feels like more traffic is seeing me in this high vis jacket. Good for the dark winter commute. Un-cool though. The jacket does not come with any foam in the back protector insert pocket - the product description claims that it does.
Superb jacket for the money. Very comfortable. Shoulder & elbow protection is spot on - I added a Furygan D30 full back protector. Perfect mix of practical black and hi viz up high on the body. Thermal layer very effective. Lost a star due to lack of vents. I have used it in hot weather and it's not a huge problem, but on an otherwise excellent product it was the only issue.
A really good value jacket, quite versatile with the layering and as with all Alpinestars kit the fit is good. Warm in winter but lack of vents prevents it getting 5 stars from me; I reckon it'd be too warm for summer even with the 'layers' removed.
Highly visable jacket
Maybe a little too yellow but definitely makes sure you stand the best chance of being seen. Just been to Scotland through numerous wet days - jacket performed perfectly. The only slight issue is the double flap / Velcro front panels which are a little fiddly when putting on the jacket - but no rain gets through.
Bought the Alpinestars Andes Drystar Textile Jacket, after reading the reviews. The item arrived rather quickly. Sadly I had to return the item, as it was on the large size and as they had no Medium sizes left, had to ask for a refund, which was dealt with promptly.
