Alpinestars Andes Drystar Textile Pants - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Great value waterproof trousers
Totally agree with the latest review. For a regular length the are slightly too long, but otherwise seem a very good product. The material is slightly less thick than on considerably more expensive ones, they are very waterproof , but I am not prepared to do a slide down the road to test their strength. I do feel confident that they will offer good protection though.
First of all, these are very good trousers, good value and I would have them again and recommend them to a friend. There are a few niggles that I will point out, but wanted to get the bottom line up front! Good points: -Very waterproof. -Feel like good quality fabrics and well made. -Pockets and vents in sensible locations. -As ever, SBS offer an excellent service. Less good: -'Regular leg length' is a bit long, in my opinion. -The knee armour sits a little low when standing, but is fine when riding. -The thermal liner attaches to the outer halfway down your shin, not at the bottom. So, if you're not careful when putting them on, it can ride up inside (or get pushed up by your boot), which can lead to cold shins! -More adjustment at the waist would allow me to wear the trousers without the braces, if I so desired. -No loop for hanging them up on a hook. As you can see, the good points are huge pluses and the negative points are minor niggles. The RRP of these is twice that of my previous (Richa) trousers and I genuinely believe they are twice as good in terms of quality and waterproofness.
Excellent quality trouser, only negative is slightly to long in leg & maybe not enough Velcro around the leg with tightening around the boot. Would like a really tight fit there otherwise pleased with purchase & the service received from SBS.
Waterproof and well made trousers
Bought these to go with my Alpinestars Gunner jacket (zips fit perfectly without any alterations needed). They're a great fit and really well made. Also fully waterproof - 2 hours on the bike in a constant downpour and not a drop of rain got through. I'm 6ft 3 at 110kg with a 38'' waist and 35'' inside leg - XXL fits me perfectly.
Bought these trousers with the Andes Drystar Jacket. Im 5,11 - weigh 75kg went for size medium and they fit great. Anybody with a waist 32 to 34 will easily fit, I can even squeeze in with a pair of jeans. Warm, comfortable and great pocket design, means you will not spend 10min getting your bankcard out after refueling. Good price, good buy.
Great trousers great service
Bought these trousers to match the jacket, unfortunately purchased a size too large. Sent them back, which was no problem for SBS or me. Although my size was out of stock for a few weeks SBS kept me informed of my orders progress. In the end they arrived a lot sooner than thought. The Velcro on the bottom of the legs could be longer. Thanks SBS for a great service.
I bought the jacket a few months ago and now finally I have the pants. Very comfortable and fits perfect. The long length didn't cause any problem unlike some other buyers. I'm 180cm tall and 90 kilos. XL fits perfect for me. Great and very speedy service from Sportsbikeshop as usual. Haven't tried on a heavy rainy day, but looks like there won't be a problem.
Fit for purpose
Firstly, great service as always from the guys at Sportsbikeshop. They even measured the inside leg so that I could get the correct size. On to the product itself. The quality of these trousers for the money you pay are fantastic. Word of warning, go for the size up as they tend to measure up a bit tight. The inner thermal layer goes all the way down to the shin and keeps you warm in the coolest of weather. They are also great for taking out and slipping inside a pair of jeans if you wish to... Saves a fortune on buying branded ones. For commuters, they easily fold/roll up and tuck into a pannier/top box to. Would thoroughly recommend these to anyone.
I've waited for a really rainy day to test these trousers and they did not disappoint. 1.5 h in the rain and still dry but when sitting on a wet seat you get a little bit of moisture trough, nothing serious though. Good quality too! I'm 34" waist and 33" length and they fit really well. Now I'll have to wait for the colder weather to see how warm they really are.
Warm, waterproof and versatile all weather trousers. Very comfortable although the knee pads do drop slightly when stood up - this is not a problem on the bike. Feel like a quality item. I have not yet warn them in warm weather (thank you UK summer!) but assume that they will be just as good as you can remove the liner and open thigh zips. I would thoroughly recommend these trousers.
Very comfortable when riding and the knee pads fit perfectly on to my knee. It is a bit uncomfortable when walking in because the knee pads are annoying but after a while you get used to it. They also do an amazing job keeping my legs warm even without the thermal lining.
Very good for the price
Good and very water proof. As others have said the knee protection sits low when not on the bike. The braces help keep these in the right place but then the crotch seems a bit tight! You don't notice this when on the bike but I must admit to doing a bit of a shuffle and "reorganisation" when I get off. Shame SBS don't sell the fluro colour scheme to match the fluro jacket. Overall very good and comfortable.
