Alpinestars Andes Drystar Textile Pants - Black
Customer Product Reviews
A great pair of trousers
Overall very pleased with these trousers. They are comfortable, warm with the thermal liner, cool without. Well made robust product. 3 minor grumbles, 1) not enough pockets, 2) would be better with a zip on the lower leg, 3) the knee pads are a little uncomfortable as they feel slightly twisted when sat in the riding position. These are small personal grumbles and so should not put you off what is a pretty good pair of trousers at a fairly good price!
Just the job
'I'll start with the negatives and finish on the positives. If you're tall, I'm 6'4", then these won't be long enough. Once I'm on the bike and bend my knee the knee pad is on my thigh and sticks out causing then to ride up over my boot. I took the pads out and stitched more velcro on the ankle to seal them tighter against my boot. They fit a little better now. Had my first ride in a downpour and within 5 minutes I had a wet crotch. This was even with the Andes jacket over the top and behind a tank with tank bag. No idea how the water got in. On the plus side they are warm.'
People have said the knees are low when standing. I guess we are all different shapes as they fit perfectly on me! Also should mention the waterproofing is excellent. I got caught in the most horrendous downpour a couple of days ago and they kept me totally dry. Impressive.
Warm and dry but a snug fit
My first motorcycle trousers but these are great. Comfortable and warm. Ridden in light rain and stayed dry and warm. Can't comment on heavy rain though. I'm generally a size M but got an L as advised and even these are snug. Could have gone a size up but only if I could get them in a short leg option as the knee protection would have been too low.
Been wearing them for a couple of weeks to and from work (10mile commute), exposed to the elements and they are 100% waterproof and very warm. As other comments stated, fit is not perfect - baggy around the thighs and knee-pads a tiny bit lower than expected - although none of these two represent an issue. Great product overall!
Nice pair of trousers
The trousers are great, warm in cold weather, easy to get on and off quickly and nicely zip onto my non Drystar Alpinestars jacket. My only (minor) gripes are how baggy they are around the thigh area, the fit (I purchased large trousers as I am closer to a 34 waist and they are a tiny bit loose even with the side adjustment straps tight, and that the pockets on the legs are not waterproof. Otherwise, they do what they say they do and do it well. Would definitely recommend.
This is a great product for all weather riding. These are my first pair of bike trousers after passing my test so I was looking for something that wasn't too expensive yet provided solid protection. The knee pads hang a little low when standing, but as soon as you are on the bike they fit well.
Waterproofing and breathability on these trousers are great! Don't expect top-of-the-line Astars styling, but good value for money and very good quality and build. I agree with the other two reviews here. They are a bit baggy/wide around the thighs.
Excellent value for money
I was looking for a value for money trousers for a European trip. The Alpinestars were very reasonably priced compared to similar specified trousers. I had some concerns about the waterproof qualities but I shouldn't have worried. In Holland I experienced the heaviest rain I've ever seen and was on the bike for 3 hrs. When I arrived at the Ferry terminal, I was completely dry inside. The Drystar pants were excellent and unbelievable value for money.
Bought these to match the Andes fluo jacket. Quality feel & nice and cool with the liner out. With it out and no work trousers underneath, they are a tad baggy but the braces sort that out. One negative for me though is there is not enough Velcro around the leg with tightening around the boot. Would like a really tight fit there so may have to get a tailor to add on for me. Only reason to knock off a star
