Prexport San Marco Boots - Black
Customer Product Reviews
These arrived within 48 hours of being ordered, which is great service. The boots look and feel well made, fit was excellent for me as I have large calves in relation to the size of my feet, these sit nicely just below my calve so no probs there. I like the fact that there are no zips, just Velcro fastenings which makes them more adaptable in fit if you want to vary the thickness of your sock depending on the time year. The boots were very comfortable from the start and are now softening in nicely around my feet. I have only marked 4 stars for now as of yet I have not been caught in a good enough amount of rain to have them really put to the test. I would recommend these boots.
These boots are made for walking
This is my 3rd pair in 19 years of Prexport general purpose biking boots and I love the easy-fit velcro fastenings, as opposed to zips. These latest boots are slightly small for the size bought, compared to other boots I own, but are just large enough and should give a bit in time. I often walk miles in my riding boots when I arrive at certain destinations, so I hope these will allow the same. Boot construction seems fine. My previous Prexports had the rubber sole worn through at heel and toe, due to abnormal pronation, I guess, but only after several years of use. This latest boot is slightly harder to pull on due, I think, to the way the boot closely follows the vertical profile of the (my) heel, but it is even more unlikely to be pulled off in the unfortunate event of an accident. No chance yet to test the water-proofness but, in any case, in the past, I always treated the leather with a proofer. I have ridden only about 500 miles wearing them, but so far, so good. I must say that the service from Sportsbikeshop was exemplary.
I ordered a pair of these because my old Prexports were great. Not as happy with these ones though. The first pair were too small, so I exchanged them for the next size up. This pair are a bit loose around the heel and slip when you walk. They are fine on the bike, but I need to break them in a bit to get a better feel for the gear shift and brake. Overall, not a bad boot but I probably wouldn't get another pair.
