TCX X-Blend Waterproof Boots - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Comfortable good looking boots
Bought these because they had good ankle protection and look good off the bike. Sizing was correct. Used with inner socks as no thermal liner and okay at 4° or 5° c. Not tried in the wet but seem well constructed.
I took the claim for off-bike comfort with a pinch of salt, and prepared for at least a bit of breaking-in discomfort. Decided to wear them for a day to work and to my surprise they really were genuinely comfortable. Worn once for a quick trip on bike and no probs there either. The construction is reassuringly sturdy. Of course style-wise, you're limited to what trousers you can wear on the bike but they do look great with jeans
Waterproof and comfortable
First when trying feels a bit weird, but they wear in a day and then they are really comfy on or off the bike. Seem to be waterproof in few medium showers I've been through, not very warm, but i was not expecting them to be. Seems to be sturdy boot, but I managed to damage front of the shoe somehow, its like chunk of material was scraped off, don't know how i managed that bit annoying after a few weeks of buying a shoe, but what can you do. Shoe laces are of bad quality, rode with them from Boston shop straight to London after purchase, same evening noticed that little plastic tip was coming off on one end of both shoe laces, at this point i only have fluffy ends left which can be really annoying to thread through the hole when it comes out.
2nd pair, great boots
This is my second pair. My first pair are still in decent condition, albeit the antique look is long gone as I treated them with dubbin as I wasn't sure how waterproof they would be - as it turns out, they're very, very waterproof indeed! Eventually I wore a hole in the waterproof membrane with my left toe through gearchanging but the boot was still reasonably waterproof despite this. I'm quite broad in the foot so originally bought a 43 and 44 to check fitment; I opted for the 44 because of space across the foot but it proved to be too big lengthwise really so walking any distance caused rubbing on my heel. My second pair are a 43 and they're just a tiny bit tight in width, but they do fit well lengthwise so I'm hoping they'll stretch with use. The standard laces are cotton (or similar) and soak up loads of water so I ended up replacing them with nylon ones which solved the problem. I've been so impressed, that after buying a second pair, I bought yet another pair for my wife as they were at a really good price, she loves them too. In summary, if you like the look, they're very waterproof, look good and seem fairly hard wearing. I'd recommend swapping the laces though but other than that, I've been, and remain really pleased.
Great for the bike
They are certainly fit for purpose. They feel strong and sturdy. I would challenge the idea that you can walk around in them all day. I tried that and had abrasions on my shins for a week. The tops of the boots are hard, which means they will take a while to break in. The piece on the top of the toe seemed get in the way at first, but now I've got used to it. The boot looks good and once broken in, then they'll be a great all-rounder
Reasonably lightweight boots that are comfortable on the bike and walking in all day. Good feedback from brake and gear levers. Rubbed a lot around calves when I first got them, but leather softens up in a couple of days or so. Brown leather has lovely tones and will I'm sure continue to patina nicely. Expensive, but reassuringly supportive and wearable off the bike without looking like a power ranger cowboy.
TCX X-Blend Waterproof Boots
These boots are excellent. They need a couple of days wear to break them in as the sole is a bit stiff initially, which is good for added protection. The uppers are soft, comfortable and waterproof with an added panel for gear changing on both feet. I can't rate these boots highly enough.
Exactly what I was after
I explored the market pretty intensively before selecting these boots. They are exactly what I was after. Proving protection in the key areas, these waterproof boots are high enough in the leg to allow fashionable protective trousers to be worn. These Vintage style boots complement the look of today's stylist motorcyclist. Delighted with my purchase and thoroughly recommend for discerning riders. Roy
Excellent Boots for City Riding
I was very new to riding when I bought these as my first boots. I live and ride in London, so needed something comfortable on the bike, durable and able to withstand the variable British weather. These boots were perfect. I wore them pretty much daily for just over a year and they withstood the elements perfectly; not a single drop of rain seeped through. When worn with a pair of thermal socks, my feet were warm all throughout the Winter months. They're a bit chunky for constant wear in the Summer, but my feet weren't sweaty. The protection they gave made me feel very confident whenever I put them on. My only gripe (and it is a minor one) is that the additional leather over the toes on the left boot wore away after a year. But as I said, I wore them every day during that year, so less frequent use will probably make them last longer. An absolute bargain at the price.
Really comfortable boots that I can wear all day on the bike and wherever I end up. Sole looks a little cheap due to the waterproofing but I'll let them off if it works. Not had chance to test the waterproofing as it's been dry for me so far
Was a bit worried about buying boots online without trying them on but I didn't need to worry! They are extremely comfortable straight out of the box, I have wide feet but no problem. Yet to expose them to the rain but am sure they will cope. The vintage brown looks excellent even against dark grey leathers. I would definitely recommend these boots.
