Oxford RP-1 Waterproof Leather Race Glove - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Fantastic thin but waterproof glove.
Wore these for 1000 mile week long autumn Highlands trip. They were thin enough to still have plenty of feeling, the waterproof membrane worked fantastically. The gloves seem well made and have plenty of protection, overall very impressed.
Best motorcycle glove yet!
I purchased this glove for my pillion. Have to say the best motorcycle glove I have ever seen. It was reduced in price so excellent value. Covered in armour, well designed and water proof. Couldn't get it in my size! Have looked everywhere. Oxford did a great job with this one.
Bulky and complicated with several layers of protection and padding. Quite difficult to put on partly because the padding, as yet, is tight on my fairly slim fingers though I expect this to improve with use. Once the straps and flaps are done up they are fairly flexible and look to offer very good protection. These are not sensitive driving gloves but part of your suit of armour!
Oxford RP1 Waterproof
A solid leather glove with loads of protection in the right places, a bit tight on first use but soon bedded in to my hands shape etc. Left little finger is still a little tight at the end and the lining does move about when taking them off but have got used to it. Not tested in the rain or really cold yet. Great value at 45% off the price. Good rating may change if they don't perform in the cold and wet.
Not the best
Normally use Oxford RP-3 shortie gloves which are 10/'10 but sadly now no longer made. The RP-1's offer good protection and waterproofing but are a bit tight, the fingers are a bit long for me, the lining tends to move a bit when you take them off and the wrist armour makes for a faff with your jacket cuffs.
3rd time lucky
First pair lost in post, thanks Royal Mail. Second pair arrived safe but due to poor build quality one little finger was sewn so tight as to make the glove unwearable. Third pair fit and are breaking in ok. Would have been a 1 rating if not accounting for the excellent customer service that sorted out two replacements. Highly disappointed by the build quality that oxford let leave the factory, QC department need a kick in the ass. Had I received the 3rd pair first it would have been a 4 rating, build quality still not 100% when comparing 1 glove to the other, but fit and function is ok. I won't be in a hurry to buy oxford gloves again. So, having worn the gloves a few times, and them still being tight and uncomfortable on the fingers, I decided today to to wet the leather and make it softer so it would conform to my fingers a bit easier an quicker. They re new, and waterproof, what could go wrong...... you can see where this is going can t you........ I fill a small container with water, and put the fingers of the gloves in the cold tap water for 4-5 mins. Take them out, let them drip, and put my hands into my lovely warm, new, bone dry gloves, oh, no, my lovely new, freezing cold, water filled gloves. Although, to be fair, while the left is as waterproof as a cheap tea bag, the right only leaked at the thumb from what I could tell. These are without doubt the worst glove I ve ever owned in 30 years of riding bikes
Nice gloves that are very safe. They are slightly tight, but I'm sure they're going to give and will end up being amazing. The protection on these gloves is amazing. The wrist protection does make getting them over a jacket a little hard, but it gets easier with use.
I really like these gloves they are very comfortable and warm, although I've not used them below 10 degrees c. I ordered large and they were quite tight at first, but after a few rides they stretched to fit my hand perfectly.
