Schuberth E1 - Gloss Black
Customer Product Reviews
Very good helmet
Very good helmet which is comfortable and very well made with a quality feel to it. At the price I paid £274.99 it represents very good value for money. The only gripe I have like many others is the peak vibrates at certain speeds. If I put it in the lowest position it seems OK but in the mid position it vibrates around the 40 to 50mph range but is OK at other speeds (I ride a Yamaha XT1200ZE Super Tenere). The upside is that it doesn't force your head back at higher speeds which I have had with other adventure helmets so I have no neck ache after long rides. Overall if you paid a similar price to me I think you will be happy with it, Although I don't think you would be so happy if you had paid full price and found the peak had issues
Best Helmet ever !
I was at my "local" (50km away) BMW dealer looking at the new F850GS. Thought I'd try a Schuberth helmet. I wasn't seriously looking to buy a new one as the old flip up one was only a year old (but noisy as H**l). Schubert made a perfect fit but was very expensive. As I was browsing SBS I had a look at the helmets and found the E1 on sale. It's very comfortable, much more quiet than my old one, the cheek ventilation works very well. With the price I paid (£180 less than in Sweden) I'm more than satisfied. Much recommended !
Was looking for a new modular helmet in the £250 - £350 range. Thought a Schuberth would be out of my price range but luckily Sportsbikeshop had a great offer of this E1. This helmet is brilliant, very comfy and quiet. Compared to my last helmet (Caberg Justissmo). The photo in the ad doesn't do the Schuberth justice, the colours are in a Matt finish and not so dayglo which suits the helmet. Ventilation is brilliant as is the visor with fitted Pinlock. The only minor drawback is the sun peak (can be set in 3 positions) which at high speeds can oscillate a little, I normally detach mine (which is easy) If motorway riding
The Good + quality build, well fitted elements + generous inner lining, good sweat-wicking + good quality paint finish, hard to scratch The Bad - the peak design is a joke, does literally nothing - the visor does not lock in open or vent position properly - the Pinlock was not fitted properly and now after a year fell off completely. Not the best helmet I've ever had. Could be good but has flaws that, bearing in mind the price tag are unforgivable. The peak is too short and does literally nothing to protect from low sun. Comparing it to Nexx DX1 the peak is really badly designed here. The visor and the fitted Pinlock is the biggest disappointment. It was fogging a lot from day one and even refitting the Pinlock didn't help much. Now that the Pinlock fell off completely I'm totally disappointed. The ventilation is average at the most.
New helmet time
I've been using Arai and Shoei helmets for 22yrs now, and I always ride with ear plugs, but I have friends who use Schuberth helmets and say that they are so quiet that they don't need to use them, so I thought I'd like to buy a Schuberth and looking at the the options available I fell in love with the E1. And even though I've only used it a couple of times so far I love it, but it's equally as noisy as my Shoei, and there's no way I could ride without ear plugs, I'm guessing it's the peak that causes the noise, but I'm willing to live with it because I love it so much.
Purchased the Schuberth E1 after much research and am very happy with my purchase. The helmet is very quiet compared to my old one which was my main consideration. The peak is very useful and acts as a sun visor in the spring mornings and evenings but does catch side winds. The peak is easily removed and the helmet can be used in either configuration. 'I tend to remove it on very windy days'. Overall build quality is very good, I would highly recommend this helmet.
Superb build quality
I have yet to test the E1 fully (as it is winter right now), but I can definitely feel the build quality that Schuberth is known for. I bought this for the comfort rides and will keep my old helmet for the gnarly off-road stuff. The helmet is a definite buy...
Great helmet, very good fitting helmet. Bit fiddly at first as visor latches flip front in different location to last helmet but very pleased with the helmet tho. Fits snug, went for a 57 opposed to a 58, feels good. Highly recommended, thought that would be outside my price range but great price.
Comfortable, warm, quiet, visible, light weight, smooth sunvisor... what more do you want from a helmet?!! I have also fitted my Sena 10S which works very well. Barely any extra wind noise. The only gripe is the top vent is quite tricky to get to with the peak on - once you have it open, it really is effective!!
The best modular dual sport helmet, step on up...
I've used my previous Schubert C3 modular helmet for 3 years now and its wracked up nearly 60,000 miles. I saw the E1 at the NEC show a while back and have been waiting to justify the change to what is essentially the same helmet for quite a while I took the plunge earlier in the year and have since done 2 long European tours in it. All I can say is I wish I'd got my act together and upgraded sooner! Yes, its the same fit and finish as the regular C3 Pro and has everything you would expect from a top end helmet, great build quality, minimal wind noise etc but the peak is a game changer. Being able to quickly adjust it while riding in low sun gets rid of the squeaky bum moments when you come over the brow of the hill in dazzling sunshine and just have to hope there's nothing on your side of the road! You can fully remove the peak if you like and while at the lowest setting its right down in your vision there are two higher setting, the first of which keeps it just in your eye line and the highest moves it out of view altogether. On the two bottom settings you can see the peak vibrating at speed but none of this transfers onto the helmet itself, even with spirited riding or high speed Autobahn blasts there is very little turbulence for a peaked helmet and the integral sun visor is brilliant as per the previous model. It feels a tad heavier than the C3 Pro but the difference is minimal. Venting is also improved with a larger chin vent and more airflow over the top of you head, perfect for hotter days. Criticism price I suppose will be a factor for many but you really do get what you pay for with these, it will last you for years, is comfy, quiet, great for riding in low sun with the peak and thanks to its modular fitment you can say goodbye to the endless helmet removal dance at petrol stations, passport controls etc happy days!
Quietest helmet I've owned
During a recent tour to Germany and Czech Republic I found the level of road noise from my Arai uncomfortable over longer periods, especially on the way home when we covered 550 miles in a day. When I got home I researched adventure / sports helmets and followed reviews and plumped for the Schuberth E1, and I'm glad I did. The fit is superb straight out of the box, and it's light too with good visibility. My first outing was a weekend trip to Belgium visiting the battlefield of Ypres, so some motorway riding followed lots of stops at the various sites, taking the helmet on and off. It was comfortable throughout and the integrated sun-visor came in very handy with a low sun that disappeared at regular intervals. I ordered the helmet a couple of days before departure and it arrived, as promised the next day from Sportsbikeshop. I have used them often and the service is always exemplary. Overall, very happy with this purchase.
Nice light and very quiet. A little awkward to put on due to large neck roll but once mastered no problem. Peak causes some buffeting on top two settings but nothing major. Visor rattles sometimes when up. I've found several small surface scratches on Matt finish and I've been very careful. Overall I'd say it's the best helmet I've had. As always Sportsbikeshop service excellent.
