Gear Gremlin Rocket Ear Plugs
Customer Product Reviews
I have always used the disposable foam earplugs and been very happy with them. I thought I'd try these. At firstinspection they looked promising - well made and finished. However... I found them uncomfortable and about 30% as effective as my old cheapie disposable foam plugs. I have put these in the bin.
I'd estimate these £2.50 a pair Rocket plugs dull the wind noise AND lower the volume from a 7 out of 10 to just a 5 compared to my long time use Moldex disposables but they're less than 2p a pair when bought in pairs of 200. I often lose plugs too so it's a problem unless I can buy these Rockets in bulk.
Not sure if it is the size of my ear canals but I really don't feel that these cut out any noise at all. Have always used foam ones which have been fairly effective. Thought I would try these because of reviews but will go back to foam. Have given 3 stars rather than less cos could be my ear shape rather than the item...
I have tried similar ear plugs to reduce wind noise in the past, but found them ineffective, so used foam ear plugs which seemed to be better. However, having read the MCN review on earplugs I thought I would try the Gear Gremlin Rocket ear plugs. I have now used them several times and found them to be very good and it does reduce the wind noise significantly. They are not that uncomfortable to wear but I have found that one does leave my ear hurting after a long journey but think this is more to do with a small ear canal. Overall, I am completely satisfied with the purchase and also excellent value.
Better than expected
Honestly didn't think these would make much of a difference but took a gamble and they're very good, wind noise is now minimal and can still hear my exhaust/intercom. Fitting can be fiddly but think that's more to do with my ears than these plugs.
A bit hit & miss
I usually use the yellow 3M foamies but wanted something less fiddly which these certainly are. But I think I have odd ear canals as these fit well and are comfortable in my right ear but are uncomfortable verging on painful in the left. Tried them a few times and sometimes I get a better insertion and a very quiet ride and sometimes they are just plain noisy. So your mileage will obviously vary with these. Worth a try for the price though. Good luck.
