Garmin Sat-Nav - Zumo 595LM
Customer Product Reviews
Excellent - bad wiring harness
This sat nav has excellent features and is so accessible and easy to get used to. The only downside is the damn mount! The wiring harness that comes hard wired to it, has all of these extra bits for sound and USB charging, but they are so long if you aren't confident on chopping them all down are extremely long! I had to fit them all cable tied in a bunch behind my TFT dash (Tracer 900 GT). Other than that awesome strong bit of kit, comes with a car mount and a motorcycle RAM mount which is on the smaller side so you may need a larger one to fit your handle bars.
I upgraded to the 595 from a 12 year old zumo 550. There are a lot more features on the 595, and although I'm still learning about some of these, it looks promising. I'm not sure I really need all the connections that come with the bike mount which take up a lot of space, but time will tell. My only complaint at the moment is that it doesn't come with a carry case. That seems stingy considering the price of the unit.
Perfect Motorcycle Sat Nat
Everything I expected after considering several options and reviews. Connected effortlessly to my iPhone phone and Sena10S. Well built quality product from Garmin and great service from Sportsbikeshop as always. Very happy with the purchase.
Stick with TomTom
Poor visibility screen. Very dull even on brightest setting. You will not see this screen on a semi bright day guaranteed and screen must be viewed square on as it suffers from an angle issue too. Bluetooth connection issues. Does not fully link up automatically as it should and unlike its predecessor has two Bluetooth connections, one for mic and other to link to apps. Faulty sound connection issues due to either faulty power supply lead or base to satnav. No power from usb output. Important! Please check forums to see all the many issues with this SatNav as they are so many and I'm experiencing most. My old 550 was excellent which is why I went for the new 595 but this is a serious misjudgment and the technician should be sacked for this heap of rubbish. Stick with TomTom for a replacement. You have been warned.
Does the business - ...now where am I :)
I bought this to replace my Zumo 550. It is so much faster to load. Its feature packed (some of which I am yet to use) I imported routes from "Tyre" without a problem. Like many have said the wiring is a real over kill. The Aux wires end up by the seat and the USB in the tail piece. They are not detachable. My old Zumo had two wires which meant I could easily swap from bike to bike. For this one I had to buy a second dock and hard wire it in. There is no security devise so easily stolen if you forget at a gas station for example. The 550 had security screw. I have made my own. Despite these niggles I still think this is the best Nav out there. The music options are what swung this for me over the Tom Tom
Garmin Sat-Nav - Zumo 595LM
Far better than my old Garmin 340LM. Good quality sat nav, easy to use. Clear screen even in bright sunlight. Good that you can use it in a car and all the bits are supplied.Easy to wire in on the bike, cable is a bit bulky due to the extra connectors. Highly Recommended and the service from Sportsbikeshop priced matched and fast next day delivery. 10/10
Reliable nav unit
Easier and quicker to use than my old TomTom unit and it doesn't steam up. I like the large buttons to input addresses and on screen menu options. Connects easily to iphone for calls and traffic info. Straightforward cable install but the cable is quite thick due to the additional connectors which I don't use. A nice clear screen- not as clear as TomTom but in my opinion its better overall. It also starts quicker and runs more reliably. Recommended
Superb sat nav
*Exellent service - arrived within 24hrs. *Price matched against competition *Sat nav is top quality sturdy and easy to use. *Easy to fit -mounting /wiring simple *Intuitive to use on the move *Clear instructions to set up and use *Screen and map quality excellent *Paired easily to my phone and helmet head set *Definitely waterproof after my last ride for 7hr in torrential rain. If only my gloves and boots were as waterproof.
Ordered the Garmin 595lm, I have had Zumo"s before, this moves the bar upwards again. Easy to set up with ( quick start), comes with both bike & car fittings. Does need a shade from strong sunlight when the sun is behind you. Good value from Sportsbikeshop.
Excellent service and best price from Sportsbikeshop. After using my Garmin 550 for over ten years I decided to update to the 595LM. It is solidly built with great features and an extensive POI section. Easily wired in to my Harley 1200T with the included kit. This misses 5 stars due to the screen being difficult to view in strong sunlight and the omission of a locking device when in the cradle. Even my old 550 had a screw to dissuade opportunist thieves. Overall though a very good bike Sat-Nav.
Quick delivery from Sportsbikeshop. Had the 660 for 5 years, upgrade to the 595LM. Bigger screen, simple plug and play, the unit is quality, feels robust. Daytime use under intense sun light could be a little brighter. It was set to 100%. Overall it was the best choice out there.
