Wolf Tec-Tour Outlast Textile Jacket - Sand
Customer Product Reviews
Good Solid Jacket
Jacket was a good fit, same sizing as my previous Rukka. In use it is slightly shorter than ideal, but as it zips to the trousers it is not much of an issue. Very comfortable, thermal liner not really neccessary so far. One niggle however is the quiantity of velcro as it seems to catch on everything around me, and the cuffs particularly catch the main zip velcro cover again and again very annoying, but other wise seesm to be an good jacket comfortable and warm,.
Good solid value.
The jacket is very well equipped and constructed, giving a good solid feel that gives confidence in its ability to protect from both the elements and due to the top spec armour, any impact received. The fit is snug, with no loose or baggy material around arms or waist. It fits me spot-on.
Bought this jacket based on reviews that gushed about how great it is. Yes it's comfy, yes the armour feels secure, don't know how waterproof it is yet. It has its flaws. With previous jackets I've always zipped up the outer shell and left other layers open. The waterproof lining must be zipped shut otherwise the main zip catches it, every time, constantly, and it's very hard to un-catch. It's very annoying. The picture makes it look quite long, it's not (on me anyway). The clever belt actually does up around my ribs and when riding sometimes ends up under my armpits. The air inlets are impressively massive, however as the waterproof lining is zipped up I don't feel particularly cool when they are open. The neck guard thing works very well with wind. I don't know if it's as waterproof as it looks due to no downpours yet. However take the guard off and the Velcro underneath sticks to the bottom of my helmet. Did I mention how annoying the waterproof lining is?! Obviously I need to remove it but keep it handy in case it rains but that just seems wrong. Given the chance to go back in time I'd try out some other jackets before buying this one again. However if the neck guard stops my balaclava from getting wet then most of the negatives will probably disappear. Not the waterproof lining though, it's very annoying...
Magic science jacket
I had heard about the wonders of Outlast linings for a while but was sceptical. Almost all the reviews seemed to be from paid content reviewers and the such. I took the plunge with the Tec tour and I'm glad I did, very glad. The jacket is comfortable our of the box and is very much a technical garment covered in zips and adjustment points. This is great if your not the same shape is the designer or want to put on a jumper in winter. The neck shield works well as do the cuffs and the amount of vents looks like it'll be great if it gets warm. The Outlast lining does what all the reviews say it does not too hot not too cold. To put that in to perspective I ride 40 minutes each way daily for my commute in the Highlands. It has ranges from 2°C on the way in to 13°C on the way home with heavy rain and high winds. I have been comfortable in just a shirt under my jacket with the Outlast liner. Another plus point for any off roaders is the hydration pocket and tube routing system ideal if you plan on being away from a tap for a few hours.
Odd one out
I bought one of these on the strength of the reviews - I returned it after a week when the zip burst on the cuff - there is very little room to put your gloves inside (relatively thin ones at this time of year). Otherwise the jacket seemed of good quality but this happening almost straight away put me off and I swapped it for something else. Sportsbikeshops service was excellent and resolved the situation without bother.
Brilliant jacket, this is my second one as zip gave up on old one, so bought a second one while old one is being replaced ( zip no reflection on quality, as I ride every day clocking up 50 k a year ). The jacket is so versatile front temperature in the sub zero's up to high 30's works great with detachable liners an vents. Added bonus of built in camel pack pocket. Bought the second one without a moment's hesitation. And yet again fast prompt delivery from Sportsbikeshop !
Really good build quality
Awesome jacket. Has two inner liners. One quilt liner and waterproof liner. I am an annoying size where L is too big and M is just a bit too small (in most cases) as I'm quite slim but have a tall torso but went for the M. Fits okay. Only thing for me is where I zip it to top and fasten Velcro it seems tight but does help keep my neck warm. Really versatile jacket, has loads of vents so in the summer take out both liners and is nice and cool. But still warm in the cold weather. Good buy.
Really good jacket
I think, over the years, I have tried them all and never really found the right blend of fit and performance. Wolf have created the answer. One size up and the fit is super. The length of the jacket is an excellent compromise between touring and sports. Went back the following day and got the trouser to match. Great service from Sportsbikeshop. Thanks.
All the gear feels quality made. I like the press stud pockets. Nice touch on holding the knee protection in place. Incl the winter liner its very warm indeed I do not see any issues in cold weather. Affordable price. Excellent service by the SBS team.
Full featured, great value
Versatile jacket with lots of vents, pockets and options. I recommend buying one size up from normal. Separate waterproof and thermal zip in liners to suit all climates. Quite heavy and the neck gaiter is uncomfortable but easily removed. Jacket zips into RST jeans perfectly so if you already have jeans you like I would try them before investing in the full suit.
Not had Wolf clothing before and I am very impressed with the quality, fit and price. Very well made with some great detail. I am a 42" chest and the Medium was a perfect fit. A bonus it being in the sale, fantastic price. Recommended.
Few minor complaints, but overall a good jacket.
Given that we're in the middle of the heatwave, I can't comment on how waterproof the jacket is. Tried the jacket on with all the liners in and can tell it will be warm when the weather starts to turn. The vents are brilliant. At the start of all this hot weather, I was suffering in my old leather jacket during my commute home from work. Now I get a lovely cool breeze running through the jacket, riding in the hot weather is great. As for sizing, definitely agree with others that you need to go a size up. I measured my chest at exactly 48 inches and ordered the 2XL but had to send it back for the next size up. It's OK with the liners out, but too tight with liners in, hence needing the next size up. Now for minor points. The zip on the left had side rear vent isn't perfectly lined up. I guess this is a one off manufacturer fault but it's fine so long as I'm careful when I close the zip. Next is the elbow armour. Because it doesn't cup around your forearm, it can move about a bit when you haven't got the liners in. Personally I just make sure it's where it's supposed to be before putting my gloves on, but I might look to see if I can find some different elbow armour that hugs your arm more and will fit in the pocket for it. Would give that little bit more peace of mind knowing that the armour is exactly where it should be, should the worst happen. Other than that, the rest of the armour is great. Would recommend the jacket. The problem with the zip is a one off be be aware of the elbow armour scenario.
