Wolf Tec-Tour Outlast Textile Jeans - Sand
Customer Product Reviews
Wolf gear is definitely great in all aspects of feel, functionality and looks. It's my 3rd set of wolf textiles, and considering I probably get 5 years out of a set with commuting and playing they do well. The tour tacs are the next level up with dual removable liners. So dry and cosy will be the name of the game in the UK. Cool and well ventilated when I'm touring Europe.
Comfortable, warm yet airy when needed
I love these trousers the zip with the wolf jacket making it a great all in one. but even on there own they stay up great, I had to use braces on my old pair. I gave it 4 stars because the side leg pockets look great with there diagonal angle but have very little capacity to hold much. All in all very happy with this great purchase
Good solid value.
As with the matching jacket I bought, the trousers give a reassuring confidence due to the build quality and protection they offer. The fit is close, without restricting movement, with no excess or loose material to flap in the wind. Very pleased with them.
Check if they go over your boots
Waterproof and warm, you might want to consider hip protection. Quite slim fitting bought as a gift for my son, compatible with wolf jacket. Might want to check if the fastening over your boots works as quite a slim fit.
Try before you buy
Bought these with the jacket, based on reviews. Advice for jacket was go up a size and I did the same with these... they were massive so exchanged for a smaller pair. With the thermal liner in it was a squeeze to get them up my legs. Removed the lining and they are still very warm. Haven't worn them in a downpour yet, so nothing to say there. They come with a Velcro belt that goes through an opening then doubles back on itself. Clever design as long as the belt doesn't come free. I only got it back in after much grumbling. It has a weird but very secure fly zip. A sort of cod piece thing velcros down over the fly which I assume gives extra waterproof/wind protection. There pockets for hip armour are empty but accessible. The knee armour pockets have armour in them but are not accessible without cutting away the mesh lining. In other words you can remove the thermal and waterproof lining. You are then left with mesh lining which is not removable. However you can only access the knee armour by feeling through the mesh lining. As far as I can tell the knee armour is not adjustable. What it does, it seems to do very well. However it needs to fit properly for everything to work so I would recommend trying them on in a shop (if you can find one) or expect to have to use the excellent returns service at least once. **This is an update to a previous review as, you may have noticed, it rained** On two consecutive days I have ridden in fairly heavy rain for the first 10 minutes of riding, lessening to average rainfall for 20 minutes, lessening to very light rain or no rain for the last 10 minutes. As soon as I sat on the bike which had been on its side stand in the rain for around two minutes while I locked the garage, my backside went cold and then wet within minutes. By the time I arrived my knees were cold and damp but not wet. My keys in the cargo pocket on one leg were wet as were the coins in the other pocket, despite being buttoned down closed. After drying and putting on trousers I unzipped the waterproof lining and everything was wet. Therefore in summary and after removing the thermal lining, they are warm; knee armour can only be adjusted after finding a secret way in, down by the zipped openings down by the ankles (the brilliant staff at SBS now know where the openings are as it was they who found them!); as soon as it rains they let water in like a flannel. I will be using Sportsbikeshop s fabulous returns service for something that, hopefully, does what it says on the tin...
Worn as an over-trouser for the daily commute...
As autumn approaches my Kevlar Jeans (also by Wolf) were beginning to feel too cold with my legs going numb even on my short commute. I chose these as I know the fit of Wolf to be good on me and that they are Ride rated, Having removed the 2 liners I can comfortably wear these over my work trousers (chinos/ formal) and feel warm and stay dry. I plan to end my riding for the year once the frost sets/ salt goes on the roads. I have no doubt these would perform well in UK winter conditions (if you're really that brave!). Fit is true to size and adjustable via a velcro waist band. Zips do feel like they will eventually snap through fatigue and the metal tabs on the velcro buckles could be designed better. Otherwise an excellent technical garment.
I put these on and instantly felt the quality of the product. The only slight problem and I mean slight was they were a bit tight to slip over my TCX boots when pulling over boots at bottom but they did go. I went for a 6 hour ride and although it didn't rain it was a chilly day and I was warm and no air leaks and I was comfortable all day.
Have used Wolf leathers for a long time, so when buying new winter suit thought of Wolf, sale price helped. Great quality from both trousers and jacket. Bulky with outlast and waterproof liners but no need for anything but a t-shirt underneath. Only slight criticism would be needs slightly larger openings for gloves and boots. Ordered sizing as per Wolf website, good fit and armour sits well.
Nice and comfy
Comfy trousers to wear zips to the jacket and feels really good. I had to email Wolf to find out how to adjust knee pads but there is a small Velcro opening at the bottom of the leg that allows access to armour. Very fast service from Sportsbikeshop, ordered 3pm on Saturday and delivered by 3pm Sunday.
On first impressions these seemed like a good quality pair of trousers but on the first decent bit of rain I could feel the water seeping in - the internal waterproof lining did its job but I expected better of them being brand new. Seems this is a rarity though given the other reviews. Sportsbikeshops service was excellent though and helped me resolve the issue.
Great quality trousers
Bought for autumn/winter use, so far very comfy worn all day on and off my bike. I bought the Sand colour to be a bit cooler in the warmer weather. Not used the waterproof or thermal liners yet and the trouser shell keeps a good shower out. Easily zipped over my boots and plenty of really useful pockets. Very pleased with them and highly recommended.
Happy but mixed thoughts
Bought these to match the jacket, which I already had. Sizing wise, I sit between a 38 and a 40 waist, so I went for the 40 (3XL). Great sizing everywhere, waist is a bit big but the velcro belt sorts that out. Would have also liked a little more length on the leg as I'm 6'6" but they only offer short and regular, though this is a common problem for me and not reflective of just these trousers. There are Velcro adjusters on the back of the knees which hold the knee armour in place really well and rubber strips around the hem which grip your boots to keep them in place when on the bike. Waterproof wise, I have now tested the jacket and trousers together in torrential rain a few times. Only for about 45 mins at a time, but I'm happy to report that not a single drop got in. Negative points: I was a bit disappointed that they didn't come with hip armour, given that the jacket comes with everything, but a set of D30 hip protectors was only £17, so didn't break the bank. Also would have liked a couple more vents on them to match the impressive venting on the jacket and was a bit let down that the vents don't have the waterproof zips that the jacket does. Overall I'm happy with them and would recommend. You normally get what you pay for, though you seem to get a lot for your money with the Tec-Tour jacket and trousers.
