SENA 10S Bluetooth Headset & Intercom
Customer Product Reviews
First experience with helmet comms on a trip round NC500 route, straight line communication fairly clear up to 55mph between 2 bikes, then wind noise makes it more difficult, through hilly areas and around bends can cut comms briefly then it rejoins automatically even when fairly close, voice activation useful if you aren't setup as always on, getting radio presets setup was a bit clunky but one you have the stations it's good background if you are travelling alone, making calls on the speed dial settings OK as well, would be good to have more than 3 presets, made a big difference to the trip over a few days, generally decent.
Brilliant piece of kit
The headset arrived bang on time and after un-boxing it all it was quite easy to fit to my helmet (Shoei Neotech) I did have a problem at first pairing my Sat Nav but the online assistance at SENA sorted it. The headset works brilliantly and pairs automatically with my iPhone & Satnav. Even at 70mph the headset works very well, answering my phone is easy and also very clear. I would definitely recommend this product.
This is quality kit let down by poor documentation e.g. pairing. Jog dial is difficult with thick gloves. It should be highlighted that it may require specific order of pairing with devices such as sat nav's and smartphone (i.e. dont pair with phone until sat nav has done so).
Quality audio on the move
I bought this to provide audio instructions from my Tomtom rider satnav. Fitting and setting it up was reasonably straight forward. The plugs for speakers and microphone are tiny so care is needed when connecting to the relevant sockets. I followed instructions on the Sena website to ensure correct connectivity between smartphone and satnav. I have not tried the intercom side of it, but other than that, I am pleased with the product. Audio is clear but wind noise does affect this at 60mph+.
Does exactly what it says on the tin (well box)
I purchased the headset based on the recommendation of a far more experienced rider than my self. Although I'm currently only on a cbt to have the ability to clearly communicate with friends and learn from them as we ride together has helped me no end. The build quality is fantastic and my only concern is the latch that connects the device to the mount is one click away from freedom although I am aware this has changed on the 20 series models. The radio is not great but with the solid Bluetooth connection using apps like Spotify and BBC Sounds is simple and intuitive For the price you can't get a better product in my eyes, and with the support of Sportsbikeshop you wouldn't go far wrong with any other purchase not to mention the DDS and Bluelight Card discounts that are available.
Having owned the 5 and used it for a few years I upgraded to the 10. Not much between them except price. They both do the same and in all honestly the 5 offers as much for what I need it for. After 10 days in the Alps last year the 5 was more than adequate. The 10 has the fresh look and slightly better speakers but any Sena product is top of the game. Although I have not used this one to the full I would consider using the 5 based on price for the average rider that just needs buddy coms, bluetooth and a phone. Don't need any more than that to be honest in my opinion. So although a great product the 5 will do the same job for a lot less money.
Sena 10s bluetooth
Easy to install in my helmet. Needed to use the adhesive plate to fix the control unit to my BMW system 6 helmet. Easy to set up but do read and understand the instructions, found on the manufacturers website. Excellent sound quality. Would definitely recommend. Well worth the extra money.
One word 'Great'
This is my first communication device, so I read a few reviews before purchasing one. As usual terrific service from Sportsbikeshop and the product design and quality is great. It was easy to set up with my phone and Tomtom 550 and reasonably easy to fit to my Shark helmet. As with all of these multi use communications devices it'll take a little while to get used to changing modes whilst on the move. I'm really happy with the purchase and look forward to some group trips next year.
Bought this to to link with a couple of other Sena 10S intercoms. Easily installed and Group Comms between all 3 headsets is excellent. Bluetooth connection to phone and Sat-Nav (Garmin) is simple. Button patterns for functions a bit fiddly to start with, but OK after you get used to it! Clear intercom between 2 riders and 1 passenger.
Good headset but slight issues with TomTom
This was easy to fit to my Shoei NXR helmet. I have connected this to both my TomTom Rider and iPhone and so far have had no problems using it to make and receive calls or listening to music from my phone. Occasionally I seem to get some distortion in the sound from the TomTom but can still understand the directions though and eventually the distortion clears, After making a call on one occasion the voice instructions stopped coming through from the TomTom Rider until I turned the TomTom off and back on to restore communications. The problems may be due to having simultaneous connections to a phone and Sat-Nav causing interference between them in some way but I have not tried using the Sat-Nav without the phone connected.
Easy to fit
Nice quality product, easy to fit and set up. The sound quality is nice but I found it a little quiet with music playing, I then put my iPhone EQ sound on to late nite and the sound now is louder. Sportsbikeshop has kept up their 100% service ,
Sena 10s for phone calls
I bought this to replace an Interphone Urban as I needed better sound quality for phone calls, what a difference! The Sena 10s blows the Urban out of the water in both sound quality and volume. Easy fit and set up. Links well with my Garmin Sat-Nav also. Recommended.
