Arai Tour X4 - Vision Grey
Customer Product Reviews
Best helmet I've ever worn
I rode 150 miles to my nearest sportsbikeshop to get this helmet. I didn't know my size but booked it for a try on. It was tight to first put on, but was a really good fit. The D ring chin strap was rather difficult to get my chubby man size fingers too, but is comfortable. I rode the 150 miles home with my new purchase on to try out. In my old helmet, I wore ear plugs and decided to do the same with the X4. It was really comfortable and quiet. I thought the peak would make it noisy, but wasn't too bad. Having the pinlock fitted made a massive difference. But I would suggest having a face mask or breath deflector. Also, as I rode home westbound, the sun was very low and strong. One thing I was missing, was an internal sun visor. Due to the tight fit of the helmet, I couldn't fit my sunglasses on. I have looked for a replacement dark visor for the x4, and found one for £79.00 I would recommend this helmet.
First Arai purchased and worth the extra cash. Very comfortable. Sits higher on the forehead than previous helmets but first time I've worn an adventure helmet so the fit is probably different. Noticeable improvement in field of vision to previous lids and no buffeting at motorway speeds with peak. Quiet, comfortable and worth the extra cash layout due to the quality and "feel" during rides.
Very nice helmet
Had a Biltwell Gringo and bought the Arai for me to use, while the Gringo became the passenger's. Feel much, much safer. Comfort wise, not that much of a difference. The only difference is in regards to cooling - quantum leap difference. The padding is better, but not that much better. The weight is higher. The sound insulation is quite bad for a helmet this expensive. Pinlock does it's job during the day, but I see loads of reflections at night time, which sucks.
Great Helmet, with a few quirks.
I wanted a peaked helmet and it came down to 3 choices, this, a Klim Krios and a Shoei. Based on online reviews I went for the Arai (my fist Arai). The quality of the helmet is excellent and it fits my XL head perfectly. The helmet is very well put together and the visor has a very robust feel to it and can pinlock ready with a clear pinlock in the box. I didn't go for a smoked visor as I prefer sunglasses and there is plenty of room for those. Excellent choices of ventilation on the chin, and the top, and 2 vents on the top of the visor which is great. The peak is easy to get off with 4 plastic screws and has a small bit of adjustment in there too all round a great lid and I am very pleased with it. There are a few issues which are not deal breakers, just a little bit annoying. One of which is I find the chinstrap really short, the helmet has removable cheek pads that are quite prominent around the chinstrap area and these get in the way (for me) of doing up the already short chinstrap. Now these may soften up over time and make is easier but it's a bit tricky to do the thing up. Also the chin strap has bargain basement padding on it that makes it look like it was put on as an afterthought. The chin strap can be removed and it may be possible to buy a longer one better padded one? But I don't think you should have to for a lid in this price range. Purchase and delivery from sportsbikeshop was, as usual perfect and it was delivered just over 24hours after ordering online!! Overall though, I am glad I bought the Arai and will be even happier if I can get the chinstrap sorted!
Love this helmet
Service from Sportsbikeshop was brilliant and the helmet arrived and fits perfectly. Love the look of it and it's very comfortable ???? The only downside is it's a little fiddly with the plastic screws to remove the visor - I've seen other arai helmets that do this much better. I don't personally change mine much however so not too much if an issue but I know others who do.
Comfortable and quiet
Of the many styles and makes of helmets I've worn none can compare. As you slip the Arai Tour X4 over your head you can feel the quality, the padding is in just the right places to make it feel you could wear it all day. The noise reduction compared to my other helmet was amazing, as on one ride I forgot to wear my ear plugs and wasn't disturbed by traffic or road noise. As always a prompt efficient service from Sportsbikeshop, well done.
Break red arai x4
Excellent guality paintwork as always with arai sizing is perfect but also has the 5mm strips that can be removed to fully customise the helmets fit . I was a bit disappointed for the price of the helmet that it didn't come with the pin lock insert as visor has the pins to take an insert .
Lovely Lid - great service
Lid is great as you would expect from Arai, I changed from my Arai RX7 which does feel a bit plusher but I think that is more because it is a size too big. Pinlock is easy to fit and works great and the lid looks awesome on my AT. More importantly the speedy shipping from SBS was unreal especially over the holidays, the price was superb and then it arrives and I see the D Stamp is Sept 2019, happy days to get such a young helmet - highly recommend all aspects here.
Man, what a great helmet. The comfort is absolutely great, it doesn't even feel heavy on your head. Building in Cardo, so easy. Wind buffering is also, as good as none, only at very high speed, but I think that's no more than logic. I must for every touring biker. I like it so much more than my Shark-Evo-one, which by the way also is a great helmet. And so much cheaper then in the Netherlands. If you can afford one.......buy one. Also great service and fast shipping from the guys from Sportsbikeshop. Ordered on Sunday, delivered on Wednesday. Thanks guys. Frans Nuijten, Tilburg, Netherlands.
Was worried about spending so much on a helmet but it's by far the best lid I've ever had. Have a tour coming up and my shoie RYD was noisy so after reading many reviews I opted for this aria, money well spent, much quieter, wider field of vision and oozes quality. Yes it's bloody expensive but probably justified.
Fantastic touring lid.
I bought this lid to tour Spain and Portugal. I've found that helmets primarily designed for the racetrack don't have adequate ventilation for warmer climates. And that open faced helmets tend to dry my face out on long journeys, as well as providing a lesser degree of protection. The fit of the helmet is excellent. It has no tight spots and the cheek pads don't pinch. It feels light and the peripheral vision is second to none. I removed the peak for normal road use. Which tended to catch the wind at motorway speeds, making lifesavers a little awkward on a sports bike. Everything is as it should be on an Arai quality lid... The visor is optically correct, ventilation is excellent and the visor doesn't tend to fog up so much as other styles of helmet in bad weather. To the extent that I didn't bother with the pinlock. The only minor drawback with this helmet is that. It tends to produce a little more wind noise, than I would expect from an Arai lid. Even with the peak removed at high speed. In brief: Fantastic lid.... The best I have used for touring hot Countries and the UK…. Remove the peak and plug up, for high speed long journeys!
