Customer Product Reviews
Build quality on this is amazing as normal for hjc and the size matches up to my old hjc. I was expecting it to be a little fatter than normal due to the sunglasses but they have hidden it so well you cant even tell it's in there - my only issue with the helmet is the slider for the sunglasses is a bit loose and if you hit a decent bump on the road it can come down a little bit which gets a bit annoying. The vents on the helmet are crazy having the top one open nearly gave me brain freeze when I was going about 90 could image when the warm weather kicks in it's going to great
+the fit is very good for me +very little fogging of my glasses +very quiet +very stable at high speeds in strong wind +despite being a touring helmet, it handles +well on my sport bike & stays quiet +first experience of the internal visor& I like it +like the centralized visor opening -chin curtain can easily detach and get lost -the winglet create turbulance noise I prefer not to have them
I'm a typical medium across Shoei, Bell and HJC so for me the fit is snug to start off with but does mould and give a little with use. The visor lock gives a nice sound when it's down and secure and when cracked open doesn't fly up at normal speed. Visor removal is easy and doesn't require any tools. DRing is DRing, tried and tested and Aerodynamics are very good, Came with Pinlock which was easy to install having read the instructions first, my first install so didn't want to mess it up. It comes with a slightly more fixed chin curtain and a velcroed extender which does keep out the cold air. Vents are easy to operate along with the sun visor which does have a locked position to it when using the slide bar. Build quality overall is certainly comparable to my Shoei GT Air 2. I was a bit worried about ordering a helmet via the web. Delivery drivers/delivery hubs aren't always the best but the way SBS boxed and packed the empty areas ensure it was received in perfect condition. As always just a great service from SBS.
I've had HJC helmets before as well as all the top brands such as AGV / Arai / Shoei. For me, the HJC is simply the best value for money. Fantastic build quality, great fit, great features, easy to use. I am a size M with all these brands, the HJC has the best fit though. Bits don't break or fall off like other brands! I am a big user of Sportsbikeshop, and they too never ever fail to deliver on brilliant customer service which is unrivaled in any other internet seller!!
Excellent and a bargain!!
Fantastic helmet and at a great price too. Fits perfectly. i'd been looking to change from my SHOEI GT Air and saw this with £159 off. I'm not usually a pink person but this is subtle enough and should make me seen when riding
Worth the money
I had been looking for a new helmet for quite a while. I upgraded from a HJC IS-17 which was fairly quiet & fit well. A few years on and I wanted to invest a bit more into a better helmet. Tried one of these on in their Milton Keynes store and it fit perfectly. The little flaps under the chin guard and big cheek protectors means it's comfy and very quiet. The inbuilt visor works well, and the vents are fantastic, you can immediately feel them working. I'd recommend having this helmet in your shortlist.
One of the greatest helmets on the market
I looked at almost every helmet on the market before buying this one. I tried on so many and researched so many of them. I originally wanted the Shoei GT Air II and decided to go for this one, for the price and the reviews I had read, plus after trying it on, it felt as good. The wind noise is very, very low, the ventilation is great, the visor click down section is in a nice place and easy to use and is super effective. If I had to pick anything slightly annoying, is that the visor doesn't stay open on the one click up. Definitely need the pin lock which came with the helmet anyway. DEFINITELY BUY THIS HELMET
What a fantastic lid, always been a shoei man until trying on a mates one , I liked it so much i went and brought the HJC RPHA , build quality is fantastic feels so light, not alot of wind noise at both low speed and if you do exceed the speed limit dont think you would be disappointed, internal sun visor a big pro fully down or partially down big plus as the slider stays where you put it and so easy being to the side of the chin to use , good visibility on bright days, lock down visor another big pro ease of use with summer gloves or even with large waterproof winter gloves, vents and air intakes with the visor locked down just fantastic love the air to the top of the head so nice with the hot weather we had it works !! Pin lock insert doesn't mist up and good visibility, , the only thing that might be a con is the double d ring fastening as takes a bit longer than the seat belt clip but a small price to pay . If I dropped it would I buy it again is the question.......hell yes best lid I have ever owned, even if it doubled in price I would still get the same, big thank you to the sportsbikeshop for next day delivery and the price, brilliant service guys !!
HJC-RPHA 70 VIAS
Great looking helmet and fit. I ordered the small size after following measurement instructions. This is an extremely light helmet but importantly manages to shut out an awful lot of noise when riding at and low speeds. Pleased I purchased this.
First: the service from SBS was excellent, well up to its normal standard. My first helmet was a HJC IS 17 in medium. When I passed my test in May I wanted to upgrade to a premium helmet. I have read a lot of reviews and, because the IS 17 fitted me well and I was happy with it, I chose another HJC. Many of the reviews said that the RPHA 70 was a tight fit so I took a L size- this proved to be the wrong choice as it was too big. I used the SBS returns service and quickly received a Medium replacement. It fits me really well, is quiet, light, comfortable and well ventilated. I like the colour and the metallic paint finish. Having used it a few times, it is a great helmet and is definitely a premium bit of kit- a real step up from my IS 17. There's been a bit of fuss in the reviews about the merits of the Skipfog: my feeling is that there is little difference in normal conditions to the alternatives- I can't comment about really wet or cold weather as we haven't had any yet. Hope this helps you choose- I don't think you can go far wrong with this helmet
Best lid I've owned
By far the best helmet I've owned. Despite being cheaper than its counter parts from brands such as Arai and Shoei this HJC lid in my opinion out performs them on every level. Its lightweight thanks to its carbon mix construction, has loads of ventilation and despite this still remains very quiet. The internal sun visor is great and easy to use, even the bag is nice.
I bought this to replace a four year old IS-17 that had been dropped one too many times. It is a good tight fit, and seems much quieter at motorway speeds than the IS-17. A generous scoop on top keeps your head cool, yet doesn't leak even in torrential rain. Nice sun visor mechanism though it could be maybe slightly stiffer. Do take note that there's a locking mechanism on the visor catch itself, if you accidentally click this on it makes the visor much harder to open, which will cause you to scratch your head a bit until you work it out. Best thing - this helmet seems very slippery in the wind - far less buffetting than my IS-17. Definitely recommend this helmet.
What a Great Helmet
Always had Shoei and latterly Bell helmets but couldn't get on with my last Bell Star Mips and started looking to change it at less than a year old. Shortlisted several lids which didn't even include this HJC and spent a morning at Sportsbikeshop trying them on. None particularly suited my head until I tried on this one. There's a saying that it doesn't matter how much, what fancy paint job, or what Sharp rating slid is, the one that fits comfortably is the safest. Mightily impressed with the build quality, style and finish. First lid I've had with drop down sun visor which is brilliant. Ventilation has been good in the recent hot weather. Extra large cut outs will comfortably take most comms system speakers. Only negative I can think off is HJC provide their own brand of anti-fog insert, can't understand why they don't use Pinlock! All in all one very impressive helmet.
My second HJC R PHA 70
Previously brought another HJC R PHA 70 but this colour scheme caught my eye so purchased it to go with my new bike. Previously I have always had Arai or Shoei but it is safe to say that I think these helmets are of the same quality and fit wise are as good or better than both the previously mentioned helmets. The graphics are bold, the interior material of a premium feel and the helmet features are equal to what you would expect on a helmet with a much higher price tag. The venting is substantial with plenty of adjustment. The visor change mechanism is really simple and the helmet weight is very low. The helmet built in sun visor is a excellent feature and wind noise is I would say lower than both my Arai and Shoei helmets. For the price you are getting a high quality product up there with the best helmets on the market.
I usually wear an Arai as I feel like I'm wearing a duvet on my head. This lid gave me the same feeling with the added bonus of a drop down visor. It also has ear recesses big enough to accommodate decent intercom speakers. All together very pleased with my purchase.
Best helmet for naked bikes
This helmet fits perfectly & is so quiet & light. No drag at high speeds & feels great. The visor has the fastest change mechanism I've come across. The internal drop-down visor is good but I prefer the dark smoke full-face visor. 100% recommended.
This is my second RPHA 70. They are a great fit snug at first but soon bed in. They are a size smaller than the usual i.e a large in this helmet is a 58-59 and that makes them a better fit for me as I am on the smaller side of the large. Lightweight and has the space for my intercom earphones. Good ventilation. The only downside is the supplied anti fog insert is HJCs own skipfog which in my opinion doesn't work as well as the pin lock version. Easily solved by buying a pin lock version.
