LS2 Pioneer Solid - Matt Black
Customer Product Reviews
Great spec for the money!
Over all this is a superb helmet for the money. The style and finish is high quality. All of the mechanisms, clasps, vents resemble a premium product. The lining is comfortable and fits well (I find Shoei and HJC are the best fit for me). The external visor is easy to open and close however the internal visor is a little vague in the opening/closing action - but functions and does its job well. Ordered a Small and found it to be too Small, SBS exhanged it for a medium with no quibbles! Brilliant service!
Good fit and finish. Drop down visor great. Ventilation very good but downside is wind noise. I had an Arai tour X4 previously and it was no better for noise. Ratchet buckle closure not to everyone's taste but it's quick and secure.
Decent helmet for price
Helmet is really comfortable, field of view is fantastic. Sun visor is really nice as it is more like a filter than just making everything dark so view is still nice, not ideal for riding towards the sun though as still quite bright. First one I received was slightly broken (screw holding in the peak just kept turning) so not sure on the build quality but everything else seems good. Sportsbikeshop replaced it and received it the next day so brilliant customer service. Conclusion: Really happy with it for the money spent.
Fantastic helmet, fits really well. I wear glasses and it's hard to find a helmet with built in sun shade that will fit over. Speedy delivery and just a great all round helmet. The price as well was the winner, cheaper than a lot of online companies and motorbike shops as well. Thanks Sportsbikeshop.
Stylish and cost effective, within limits
Really good helmet overall. Good design and graphics with a stylish and practical design. Peak is effective and removable / adjustable whilst the inner lining is comfortable with emergency removal tags. Very comfortable with spectacles. Drawbacks: vents not adjustable (except at front) and not really sufficient, especially if wearing glasses. Pinlock ready, should come fitted, so price is not quite as keen as appears. No helmet cut-cuts for speakers, although it is possible to fit a Blutooth headset, just! Overall :4/5.
Great helmet for the price
For the price this is a great helmet. It look's great in the black / hi-viz yellow. Great field of vision and a very helpful flip down visor, which is easily operable with winter gloves on. I've been riding with this helmet during the recent freezing weather and whilst it's been good, it's definitely a helmet for slightly warmer weather. The vents around the helmet provide fantastic ventilation, but proves a bit chilly on a winter ride. Neck warmers needed! On a summers day, this would be a cracking helmet choice!
Great starter dual sport helmet
For the price you cant go wrong with this helmet. Comfortable to wear even with glasses, easily removable visor which allows room for goggles and plenty airflow to keep you cool on hot days. The only downside is no adjustable airflow except from in the chin guard.
Cheap helmet with medium fit
I have had 3 rides with this helmet, some highway at 120 kph. The wind is really grabbing the screen on top of the helmet. The fit is narrow and my face gets squeezed a little on the sides, maybe it has to be worn a few times for better fit. The sunscreen is good, the visor instant fogs when a little cold. The lock is good. Low weight and lots of ventilation in helmet. Maybe good for low speed and enduro or adventure. Not good for road and higher speed.
I was on a budget but needed to replace a Shark Speed R which was good but had seen many better days. The LS2 has all the right safety certifications and was inexpensive but also had the drop down sun visor (darker than the Shark; a good thing) which I really appreciate as I commute in all weathers over 130 miles per day (round trip). I bought the Large and terms of fit I would say its perfect for me at 59cm, the Shark also in Large was a little too big for me but Medium too small - I'd say the LS2 comes up small'ish so if your a 60cm you may want to try it on or size up. The inside of the helmet is where I noticed it had been built to a price, its good value but not as soft as the more expensive brands but again its only £100 delivered next day & it has emergency removable cheek pads that many under £300 do not. The peak is removable but I've left it in place and covered more than 500 miles wearing this helmet through rain, wind and sun - I've a Triumph explorer 1200 XRX with electrical adjustable screen. Overall I was pleasantly surprised at how good the helmet is for the price and can't criticize it at all - happy man!
