Customer Product Reviews
Bell SRT modular RSD
I wanted a flip up lid but couldn't decide between this helmet and the Simpson Darksome. I decided on this because of its 70's inspired colour scheme that would suit my sportster. The Bell seems to be a really well finished lid and the quality is better than expected. The flip up mechanism works flawlessly as does the internal tinted visor. The fit is perfect for me (57. M) and the sizing quoted is spot on. Very pleased with my choice and as always SportsbikeShop offered the best online price, fast delivery and excellent returns policy.
First Class Helmet
Bell Helmets continue to produce first class products. The quality of the fittings and the comfort of the helmet results in a product that will last for a number of years. I have used Bell for both road and competition use and would not consider changing to another manufacturer.
Got this helmet as an early xmas present only used it once on a short trip and thought it was great the ventilation on it is great so should keep me cool and sweat free in the summer the vision is also great far better than my last helmet which was a caberg it is nosey but the flip ups usually are I was a bit concerned about the colour when I ordered it but when it came wow pics don't do it justice its fantastic way better out the box I've also fitted my bluetooth into it, which was easy to do as it has the recessed bits for the speakers and I don't feel them when I have helmet on so if you looking for an outstanding helmet you won't go wrong with this one .
Good Commuter Lid
I bought this mainly for my commutes to and from work. My other lid is black so wanted something more visible. The colour scheme is good and bright and for a modular helmet this lid is not too heavy. It has good features such as the internal visor which comes past your eye-line and doesn't interfere with vision and the flip face locks in place when in the up position. The visor is easy to remove and put back on for the pinlock which comes with the helmet. Vision is good, a good all round view from the riding position with this wide visor. My only issue is the visors are £80 a piece to replace, I scuffed mine and was looking for a replacement so bear that in mind. Overall it's a good looking, stylish not too heavy functional lid. Just don't scratch the visor.
The build quality is good, both the visor and flip front mechanism feel solid, and generally speaking its a well put together piece of kit. To start with I thought I had bought too smaller size, as it was clamping my forehead, but after a while it fine. One particular concern is the the chin strap which seems too log, and I have to have it on the shortest length. I am worried that it might go over my chin in the event of an accident. Without doubt, this is the noisiest helmet I have owned, to the point I have been experimenting with different ear plugs. Ultimately, after nearly 2 months using it, would I buy this helmet again? The honest answer is a no.
Nolan or Bell ???
First choice was the Nolan n-com5 , sadly it was rather uncomfortable, Sportsbikeshop replaced with the Bell Predator, Wow looks even better in real life than in the pictures & way more comfortable than the Nolan, unfortunately a quality issue with the Bell, but once again Sportsbikeshop customer service second to none replaced with another Bell Predator & all is well, love the lid. Thanks to Andy at Sportsbikeshop for all his help & understanding. Best place to buy bike gear...
Gòod looking helmet well made very comfortable and snug fitting .still get a bit of wind noise but not excessive haven't fitted coms yet .gòod wide visor and flip front easy to use even with gloves on .Well vented front and top worked very well even on hot days .
This helmet is so comfortable with an excellent field of vision. I prefer the flip front and the additional sun visor built in. The inside of the helmet can easily be removed for cleaning. I intend to fit a Bluetooth device to the helmet, the speaker slots are already in place so no intrusion into the head space area. The air venting is also excellent to assist airflow within the helmet. Overall an excellent mid range helmet at a good price
Best helmet I've ever had
Best helmet I've ever had, it has really good features including drop down sun visor(could be darker but does the job). My headset fits snug in the moulded ear pockets for the speakers. My only gripe is the visor doesn't seal properly and you get wind blown inside the helmet from round the visor.
Ticks all the boxes
The pictures of this paint scheme doesn't do it justice, this helmet looks mean ! Its the perfect touring helmet with the included pin lock, flip down shades and flip front. Easy to use all of the features with gloved hands and really easy to fit my comms system inside The one and only downside is it is a little noisy at high speeds, but I'd kinda' expected that with it been a flip front lid, but all of the cool features far outweigh the wind noise.
I find this helmet very comfortable and convenient. It is made from quality materials and is finished to a very high standard. The dropdown internal sun visor comes down very low and minimises light leakage in bright conditions, it is directly operated rather than being the spring loaded type. The main visor offers a wide view and comes complete with a Pinlock insert included in the box. The flip front, vents and visors are all easy to control with gloved hands. I particularly like the ratchet fastening mechanism which makes it quick to fasten and release. Overall I'm extremely pleased with this helmet.
Not as good as I hoped
My first modular was a Shoei Multitec about 8 yrs ago. I found the latest model Neotec did not fit my head well so having tried a few on locally I found this SRT modular very comfy so ordered one from Sportsbikeshop. Great service and helped out with a new cheek pad that had loose stitching. I ride an ST1300 Pan so plenty of wind protection, the good - Very good fit, L fits my 59cm head fine. Excellent clear vision from the visor. The inner sun visor works well. The chin bar works easily with a nice latch you can find with gloves on. The bad bits - It's noisy, In fact with my screen in low position it's a hurricane over 40-50mph. The top vent is useless as that creates more wind noise when open. If you have short clipped hair or bald when you take the helmet off you are left with a crazy pattern on your head. One last thing is I find the glasses friendly part to be not quite in the right place. I feel bad about my 2 star rating but it is noisy, possibly due to the fact the visor does not seal properly at the top on either side. I've had this 2 weeks and worn it on 2 ride outs so it's used and not returnable. I could wear ear plugs but I don't like them and we have helmet comms. Be interesting to see how this fares in future reviews.
