Customer Product Reviews
Value for money
This helmet cost me the same as a visor and insert for my last helmet and I think its a better helmet for half the price. I currently have an HJC helmet for off-roading and it has lasted well. So I think this is a quality product with good features for a bargain basement price.
IS-17 first impressions
I've gone with HJC after purchasing the original RPHA 10 in 2012. I was always a Shoei man but after seeing the quality and fit of the HJC I was sold on it. Six years on I've gone for the IS-17 because it's a 5 star rating, has an integral sun visor and it's an absolute bargain. After two weeks use I'm not disappointed. The main downside over the RPHA 10 is the weight and the lining feels a bit cheaper but given the price compared to the RPHA 11 it's a good quality helmet and was an absolute bargain.
Perfect starter helmet
As a new rider I prioritise safety, and did a lot of research before buying my first helmet. I tried lots on in-store to ensure I had the sizing correct, before ordering from Sportsbikeshop. This helmet is superb! Five-star SHARP rated, removable lining and a built in sunvisor. It's super-comfy and IMO opinion looks absolutely brilliant. Service from Sportsbikeshop was terrific, with my order delivered the next working day and excellently packed - the helmet arrived in a box in a box in a box! And together with Pinlock visor inserts and a carry bag. To cap everything off, the price was sixty pounds less than other retailers were offering for the same.
Great service, great product
I bought this helmet having never bought of this site before. Got it for the next day but was asleep off nights when it was attempted to be delivered, the same afternoon the guy posted it. Came well packaged and protected. Really happy with the whole purchase.
Great fit and price
My head measures 58 cm around the widest part, so I ordered a medium in both the IS-17 and the FG-ST. Really, I wanted the FG-ST, but the tighter fit with the IS-17 felt more reassuring, The tinted visor is a bit gimmicky and needs to be slightly darker for sunny days, hopefully the mechanism holds up. Pinlock-like insert included in the box, which is a nice addition, easy to fit and works really well. Only had it a couple of weeks, so I can't really say much more.
Ive had many helmets over the years and this is the first HJC I have purchased and I must say this helmet is one of the best. Just the right weight, very comfortable and the internal anti-fog screen works a treat. Okay it can be a bit noisy at higher speeds, but that's what earplugs are for, and of course the deadpool paint work is spot on. I would highly recommend this helmet, you will not be disappointed.
Awesome helmet, it's cheap, build quality seems great, 5star Sharp, BMS sticker on the back so I can wear it on track... I wore it for the first time at Rockingham a few days ago. The most noticeable thing is it is so much quieter than the Spada or Shoei I have used before. I'd say at about 110mph it's the same as the Spada at 60-70 and the Shoei at 80. No need for earplugs, and can hear the engine over the wind noise. Comfortable. Complaints... The D rings are more fiddly than most because the strap is quite short. Very hard to get it over your head without completely unthreading the rings (other helmets I can loosen them and lift it over) Haven't work it in the rain yet, but I'm concerned water would get in the visor mechanism Visibility, like most helmets could be better. It's not bad, but it always irks me with every helmet that they don't open the visor hole a bit wider in select places.
Great value helmet, that ticks all the boxes
I wanted a helmet that was cheapish, comfortable, well made, with D ring fastening, and had to have good ventilation and a decent Sharp rating. Plus I wanted something with an integral dark sun visor as I get fed up with carrying a clear visor around if I'm out late in the evening using my dark tint visor. The HTC IS-17 in Shapy Blue fitted the bill perfectly. I saw the same helmet elsewhere for a lower price and emailed Sportsbikeshop to get a price match which they did the same day. I ordered it on Sunday and it was delivered Monday lunchtime and postage was free. You can't fault that for service! It's a great helmet for the money, it fits really well and has great ventilation for this hot weather. It can be a little noisy with all the vents open, but I wear ear plugs so that doesn't bother me. The aerodynamics are brilliant with no head shaking at higher speeds. It came with a Pinlock fitted and a spare one in the box too. It's an excellent quality lid for the price, and puts other more expensive lids to shame. So no more carrying around a spare clear visor in the evening now. Top drawer service from the Sportsbikeshop for a highly rated helmet.
Very good value
Great thing about the Sportsbikeshop is that they have so many helmets available to try. After trying out 12 different helmets I chose this one. The good points - Safety - 5 star sharp - the highest available Comfort - I went 2XL this time and the fit is great Price - Sportsbikeshop pricematch everything plus my colour helmet was further discounted. A real bargain. Wind noise - HJC are one of the few manufacturers that test their helmets in a wind tunnel to keep noise down. It comes with a sun visor and free Pinlock. The not so good - The sun visor is lowered by pushing a slider on top of the helmet, as opposed to a lever at the side. This is just having to get into a new way of doing things from my last helmet. The only disadvantage is that it takes a bit of fumbling to find the lever and the action can cause your helmet to move slightly forward. Weighing up the pros and cons. Its a no brainer, Great deal.
Great helmet for price
Bought this helmet to replace my Shoei GT-air. HJC helmet is a fraction of the price but feels just as comfortable as the more expensive options. Fit is great, bought a Medium which is same as Shoei. Vents are slightly loose and close sometimes but not a big problem. I will buy this brand again.
