Shoei Neotec 2 - White
Customer Product Reviews
Having upgraded from the Neotec 1 with Cardo Intercom. Great service from Sportsbikeshop, updated firmware on the SRL Integrated system so seamless changeover. Helmet camera Mount requires Locating in different position I use Contour Plus 2 but overall very impressed with the comfort and the Intercom is far superior than I expected. Peripheral vision is reduced but not enough to cause any concerns also the looking down vision is less however with the flip up Visor this also is no Problem. I must say I cant tell that it is any quieter than its predecessor. They are not cheap but I like to think you get what you pay for I Hope ! . To be honest I am not aiming to test it out ever
Best modular helmet
Previously had the Neotec 1 for 5 years then replaced with another helmet which didn't fit very well and developed a fault within 2 weeks. Went straight back to Shoei, don't think I will be going to any other helmet. Only small thing with this version in compared to neotec 1 is that the chin sticks out more so it's a bit so it is difficult to look down at the speedo, not that much of an issue just the minor problem.
Changed from a gt air to this for touring and commuting. Tight fitting initially, but after a few weeks is comfortable. Noise reduction is impressive as is the wind damping. Most noticeable us the large airflow via the front chin vent, it's like a gale, great for summer, less so for winter.
Excellent quality lid
Only my third helmet since coming back to biking in 2011, upgraded from a HJC IS 16. Had been looking at Shoei helmets for some time and originally wanted a GT Air, but found the shape of my head didn't suit this. OK so its a premium price but its a premium helmet, everything about it says quality, from the interior padding and the various mechanisms. Compared to the HJC IS 16 its about the same weight but is so much quieter when out on the open road. One minor criticism is the ventilation provided from the front vent is not as good as it could be. It keeps the visor clear but I often ride with the visor partially open.
So this is what a comfortable helmet feels like!
TL;DR Exceptionally comfortable. 5 stars for the helmet, reduced to 4 due to overpriced by £100 in my opinion. I bought this as a replacement for my Caberg Droid which I used for less than 5 rides and hated due to the noise and discomfort. This Shoei is incredibly comfortable and quieter than my other two modular helmets. No Modular will be as quiet as the quietest closed face helmet but this one is quiet enough and a more than acceptable trade for the convenience of a modular. Feature wise this lid has everything you need and the ventilation can actually be felt through your hair when riding. It really is a very good helmet that is better than any I have tried. There is no denying that this is an expensive helmet but it is noticeably better than my previous helmets (caberg duke and nolan 104). Im still torn on the price and if it is that much better but you only change your helmet every half a decade...
Great helmet, size M slightly tight fit for me but it is breaking in well. Noise level is surprisingly low and makes riding easy even without earplugs for relatively short distances. Only ever owned Arai helmets before and very happy to have given Shoei a go. Worth giving this top end model a try.
My Opinion only ..
Great looking helmet, and feels very comfortable to wear . It's the 1st flip up helmet I've had , and bought this one on all the reports I've read. After being on a tour of spain, the flip up is great, the dark visor flip down is great. The vents work very well too, to cool the top of your head . The 1 downside is it's a noisy helmet , even with ear plugs !. And at £530 , I'm dissapointed with it . Would I buy another...no !!. Most reviews said it was the quietest, hence me buying it. But its not!
Good but not perfect
Great quality, great fit. Sun visor doesn't go down low enough. The main visor disappoints though. It's good when fully closed but there is no way of getting a small crack for ventilation. The first ratchet spot is at about an inch open which means a lot of wind in the eyes. It's effectively either open or closed. Don't quite understand how such a high end helmet could get that wrong.
Neo tec 2...Heads above the rest
This is by far the best helmet I have bought..snug fit comfort and with the fitment around neck noise reduction when riding is reduced. The sun visor is easy worked with gloves and the sena srl intercom is quality and easy to install in 5.10 mins.the controls are to easy to operate with gloves.sound quality of speakers are excellent and loads of functions .ie gps radio phone and multi rider coms are great.But. the radio quality is a bit disappointing. All in all great helmet and matching coms but at a price @ £800 but in my opinion worth every penny....Thanks Shoei and Sena ????????
Superb fit and finish
I was on the fence for a long time about buying a flip up helmet. I had heard mates saying they whistle and let in water at speed. This I can assure you is not the case with the Shoei Neotec 2. The fit is comfortable and the finish of the helmet screams quality. Plush removable interior makes for an easy fitment of the Sena Intercom (also excellent). I'm a tight northerner so putting down this money on a lid was a big risk for me. However it is worth it - and you wont regret it. As per norm great service from SBS.
