Scorpion ADX-1 - Dual Matt Orange/ Black
Customer Product Reviews
The helmet feels light. Snug fitting. Took a few hrs wearing it to bed in the cheek pads which were tight to start with. Excellent vision with the large visor. Chin bar locking mechanism is very good and robust. Got the usual excellent service from Sportbikeshop
One of the few flip up lids in this style. It's a great fit, a good mechanism and it looks coolio on my Africa Twin. A word of warning though, the Honda AT produces an updraft from the forks that makes this helmet unwearable with the peak on. You need an airdam to cure this.
Really good bit of kit
This lid is far better than I expected. It looks great and the matt finish is excellent. It fits well ( a little snug ) and the flip mechanism is easy to work. Visability is very good , air flow could be a little better but maybe that's just me. I think it's a lot of helmet for the price.
Everything I wanted and more
Flip up jaw guard, peak, eye shades, adv style. This ticks every box at an affordable price. It appears to be really well made and having not paid a king's ransom for it I'll be more inclined to replace within the 3 to 5 year recommended period.
Really nice lid
I have been off the bikes for a while and my old shoei xr1000 had come to the end of its life. I had fancied a flip up having been out with family and friends who have had them and seen the benefit of having a chat without whipping the whole lid off. I tried a few different helmets on and found a lot to be very short in the chin and sat touching when closed. Not this one.. fit was instantly great, snug and supportive without being too tight. Love the flip down visor, and pin lock style insert. Massive view as opposed to the small window I have been used to. I wear mine without the peak, but it's nice to have the option if required. Road noise is higher, (I don't have a screen or wind deflector on my bike) but I don't do a lot of motorway miles so for the occasions when I do I can stick some plugs in. All in all, very happy, really prompt delivery and decent price.
Given a good rating, rather than excellent one as only used helmet twice. But first impressions are good, the deep visor gives loads more vision with out needing head movement! And the peak doesn't seem to cause any more noise than my non peaked helmet
Great commuter lid.
First things first, if you have a Shoei shape head, you WILL need to Dremel some of the foam out of this to avoid agonising pressure points. I recommend spending at least an hour indoors wearing this before deciding on whether to keep or return. That said, it's a pretty good lid, the ventilation is good and with the Pinlock insert, even slow commuting doesn't create annoying levels of mist. The sun visor mechanism is a bit fiddly and if you have a big nose and a Shoei head, the shade will probably hit your nose. The shade is genius when the sun is low on the horizon, it lets you tip your head down just enough to give you a strip of glare-free visor to see through rather than holding your hand up as a shield. Would I buy another? No, this is purely because of the shape of the inside of it, I just don't have the right shape head.
Very good helmet for the money. I have used this particular model because I have bought a separate heated visor and the company was doing heated visors only for this model. Order one size up. My head circumference measures 59 with the balaclava on and I was supposed to order L but I went on XL and is perfect. SBS top company
Excellent helmet particularly for the price
Tried both the Schubert's E1 and the scorpion, and could see the benefit of paying over £200 more for the Schubert. The finish on the scorpion was every bit as good as is the fit although be warned I had to go a size up with the scorpion they do seem to be a bit smaller. Having used it on the road it is a bit louder my old C3 but not enough to cause a problem.
Make sure you go up a size when ordering...
A nice helmet but the sizing is, as mentioned in plenty of reviews elsewhere definitely on the small side. I've never had anything but a size Medium, regardless of make and the helmet I was replacing is a Scorpion too so I thought I'd order this in a Medium - surely it would be fine? Well, it is fine with the flip up in the 'up' position and things seemed okay in the down position, albeit a little snug. Unfortunately, although I wore the helmet around the house, I didn't wear it for long enough before removing all the tags and using it in anger. It's fine for short journeys but anything over 45 minutes is genuinely excruciating with 2 agonizing pressure points appearing - you can feel how hard the foam at the sides is; there's not a lot of give!. The helmet itself is actually very nice, but do order the next size up, or wear it for a significant time before committing to it - Sportsbikeshop were sympathetic but as far as they're concerned it's the user's responsibility to check sizing so no refund or swap for a larger size once it's been used...
From going have glasses, the helmet fits very snugly around my head. Keeping it cool on the hot days in summer. Only downside is that SBS doesn't have different coloured visors, but the helmet is a bargain from what it consists of. I will be getting one of these for my partner.
A lot of lid for bot much money
Good fit, decent ventilation, sun visor works a treat. Actually when you button everything down its reasonably quiet, the only fly in the ointment is the peak which will vibrate at motorway speeds, not badly, but you do notice (no it isn't loose and peak is optional). I like the quick release strap and lift open chin guard. You need a coin to twist release the visor / peak if you want to change anything around. In summary if you want a helmet that can literally do everything by tweaking the options, for not a lot of money, look no further.
Happy with my first hemet
I have problems with hats and anything head related because my head it's unusually small for a man. I got an S, and it first fine, in fact it squeezes my cheeks, so if you've got a jawline like Glenn Quagmire, it might not be right for you. I can just about manage wearing glasses with it too. I've got nothing much to compare it to, but it seems fine to me.
