Nexx X.WED 2 Plain - Matt Concrete
Customer Product Reviews
Happy so far
First off, Sportsbike were very helpful in getting the sizes I wanted to try sent to my local store in Leeds. They sent a 2xl and a 3xl to the store to try on. Yes I have a big head. The store let me know when they got in and I went and examined it, tried it on and was left on my own to come to a decision. I left and ordered a 2xl in the colour I wanted off their website. I was cautious about the peak catching the wind and the little plastic screw on the peak breaking as I had read in previous reviews. I didn't need to worry about the peak with the wind as it doesn't catch it but I only went to 95mph. The little plastic screw, time will tell! The lid came with a pin visor and a some cheek pads and accessories for the helmet (including a spare plastic screw). The fog shield is a pain to fit, you have to remove the peak and visor to do this and make sure you fit the fog shield under the ridge. When putting the visor and peak back on I had doubts to the quality of the lid as it was bloody fiddly and fittings were really plasticky. The visor is locked in place via the peak removal clip. Once on it feels solid but it is a pain to do!!!! I wear ear plugs when riding anyway but did find the noise quieter than my previous lid ( shoei quest), the internal sun visor is good but will fog up. The air vents are excellent and give plenty of circulation, the ones on the top will give you a lovely blast of air when you look left or right. Quality looks good all round the lid and same with all things time will tell!
Brilliant customer service
Excellent helmet, great fit, very quiet (much quieter than I was expecting) Initially problem with visor leaking however sorted immediately by Sportsbike Shop brilliant customer service!! Now spot on. I think helmet just as good as my previous Arai
I love this lid! It fits me really well (size med, my head is 58cm. it has great ventilation for slow speed greenlaning. Then on the open road its pretty quite compared to my old Shark Skwal and I dont really notice the peak catching the wind. I've fitted an interphone intercom and although it doesn't quite sit in the hole for the Nexx intercom, the ear speakers and microphone fit in perfectly and the lining is pretty easy to remove too. the internal sun visor is perhaps a bit short and could do with coming down a bit more, this is a tiny niggle. good value for money!
Good quality full featured helmet.
A good quality helmet packed with features. Quite lightweight, obviously not as light as a carbon helmet but better than a standard helmet. There IS a Pinlock insert in the box so you don't need to buy one, there's also spare visor locking clips and top screw for the peak. Wide visor gives excellent field of vision and internal sun visor is dark enough for sunny days, on my BMW gs1200 my view of the clocks cuts across the base of the internal visor when it's down but it's ok if you slightly lower your head. Helmet lining comes out easily enough and I had no trouble fitting a scala Q3 intercom to the helmet, you can take off the ncom housing and file it slightly so a scala rider clamp fits through it and looks very neat. I always take a large size helmet and I do in this model but it is tighter to get on and off but very nice fit and comfortable to wear. I went for the Grey reflex and it is a good finish. The peak has a rubbery quality feel to it. Excellent helmet for riding in any conditions and a good price.
A pretty decent lid
Very comfortable, low noise and well ventilated lid. Lots of thought has gone into the 'extras', such as the camera mounting, Bluetooth mounting and the changeable chin pieces. It would have gotten 5 stars but for one very poor piece. This helmet has a different mechanism to lift the internal visor than my old helmet. Consequently when I first wore it I grabbed the two levers that hold the visor and peak in place and twisted them both clean off. Managed to get replacements but then a days later when out riding I very nearly did the same. Muscle memory keeps my hand going to the wrong spot to lift the visor, which unfortunately on this helmet means releasing the visor, which wouldn't be a problem if the clips were stronger . Other than the above very minor (and obviously personal issue), the helmet is great. Well made with lots of thought into it use (across different types of use).
I crashed a couple of weeks ago and damaged my old helmet that was a Nexx XD1 and since I was really pleased with that helmet I decided to get a nexx again. And the new model is better then the old one. The fit was really good and comfortable, and I get the impression that the new one is quieter then the old one? And the improved ventilation is noticeable too. Really happy with the helmet and I can recommend this helmet to anyone looking for an ADV type helmet
A good one at last (almost)
On paper a great helmet but I have tried 4 before getting one perfect - but even that needed the internal visor fitting for which I had to seek out how on YouTube. Also Sportsbikeshop I'm convinced had sent the one back that I had earlier returned for this problem. So 3 stars for Nexx and 1 star for Sportsbikeshop.
