Alpinestars Honda Andes V2 Drystar Textile Pants - Black / Red
Customer Product Reviews
Andes trousers - Recommended
I bought these trousers to go with my Andes jacket and I'm pleased with them. They are waterproof, like the jacket, and warm. Using the sizing chart they fit spot on. I agree with other reviews that the ankle Velcro does not go round the leg far enough. For the winter I will look to attach more Velcro so I can pull the bottom of the trouser leg in tighter. Value for money. Sportsbikeshop usual top service.
Good - few problems
Seen reviews saying to order a size up so got a 2XL they arrived and were uncomfortably tight. With a speedy return my 3XL pair arrived tried them on and they were the perfect fit! Unfortunately I went to put them on for my first ride in them and the stitching was so loose the waist adjustment belt just fell off the trousers, which sucked as I had already removed the tags so I couldn't get a refund or a swap which is fair enough. So I contact Sportsbikeshop and as usual the amazing customer support told me to return them and they can be repaired under warranty, sent them and had them back within a few weeks! Trousers are now going strong but the fact that the thread was loose in the first place makes me question the quality that is coming from Alpinestars these days. All in all awesome trousers, let's hope they hold together for at least a few years!
Purchased the trouser over a month ago and used it in rainy and cold weather. It does what it says on the description. Warm and definitely water resistant. However the knee protectors constantly move around and apparently there are hip protections in the trouser. The joints protections are a let down compared to the price. I use it for short trips on my scooter so overall not too bad. But for long rides and for bigger bikes you definitely need more protection and a different trouser.
Middle of the road rating on these as at times they can be like that fart you really shouldn't trust. Have worn in heavy rain and whilst they have kept me dry to a point, there is always that niggly thought of when the groin is going to open the flood gates and let the cold water gush over the under crackers and leave you looking like you never really graduated from nappies. I had the grey pair first of all and they were awful after just a brief shower left me looking like I had zero bladder control. Replaced with the black pair which have been better and survived two heavy down pours of about an hour's ride in each but there is still this thought that maybe they will give in some time very soon. Warmth wise very good and very comfortable and they do dry quickly when wet and left up to dry at home. They get a middle of the road rating on account of how crap the grey pair were initially.....
Great match for the jacket
I bought these very soon after buying the jacket, which is also excellent. The braces are useful, the zips totally waterproof and I've never suffered so much as a drop of moisture in even the worse storms. The long jacket connection zip is a bit of a struggle at first, compared to standard 8", but you soon get used to it. Only naff bit is the single velcro tab at the trouser cuff. Another one halfway up the calf would have been nice. But it's no biggie. Suffered a minor fault with the first pair which were replaced immediately by SBS as per their usual high customer service standards.
Bought these to replace my old alpinestars Bogota drystar trousers as they were getting very tired after seven plus years of commuting only had for a couple of weeks but very pleased wth them keep me warm and dry on my 40 miles round to take work and back. Top quality service as always from the sportsbikeshop and from alpinestars
I purchased these to wear to work over my jeans in Autumn/Winter and so far they have been exactly what I needed. They have proven waterproof and are just about warm enough without the liner. They are well made and the knee armour sits in the right place so I haven't tried to adjust it. I bought a size up and they are fine and have plenty of waist adjustment to wear on their own. The only minor let down is that the ankle/calf only has a velcro fastener and no zip but that does make them easy to get on over my Adventure style boots. Good for the money.
I bought these pants together with matching jacket and it was a great choice! It is very comfortable, warm, vents are well located and easy to open/close. Lots of pockets. I ordered Large just as my old gear but the new Large seems to be a bit smaller and feel tight but since I have to loose some weight anyway I only got more motivation. If you are not planning to loose weight and stick to your size consider sizing up. Leg bottom closes a bit weird (velcro only), a zip would make it look neater. Overall very very good pants!
Alpinestars Andes V2 Drystar Textile Pants
I waited a long time for the wet and cold days with the pants review. And now is autumn. And I can write that they are perfect for rain, for daily commuting. It's only a few miles a day, but in the rain and cold. Thanks to these pants, I arrive dry. They work equally well on cold days. Now the temperature is below freezing and I am not freezing. Thanks, great purchase and really great pants
Size comes up small
Invested for next seasons tour to Wales to complement my V2 jacket. I had to get an XL normally a L and then had to get short leg, apparently its the Italian way.. On balance they seem good quality, although only used on a chilli morning run in the dry. One observation is that the velcro strap position limits the adjustment options, however do not expect this the create a major issue.
Second day I wore these it rained really hard, 100% dry. Build quality is great, plenty of pockets. Trousers work well with my Alpine jacket. They are very warm without the liners. It will be interesting to see if the venting system works in summer weather.
Roomy, warm and waterproof
Didn't realise these came with braces - nice surprise. Used without the liner in Autumn and plenty warm enough. Only criticism is that the legs are quite wide at the bottom and the Velcro isn't sufficient to tighten them fully.
