Knox Flex Lite Knee Guards
Customer Product Reviews
A great idea from Knox
These knee protectors work really well. They're a snug fit, unlike the usual knee armour in denim jeans that moves around, so reassuring to know the Knox protectors will stay in place. One tip: don't do them up too tight because the straps will dig-in behind your knees and the material bunches up, making them quite uncomfortable on a longer journey. Yes, a great idea, but not really suitable for any journey beyond the usual commute.
These are a great replacement to the knee pads that came with my RST blade textile trousers. They are very comfortable and sit perfectly in place. I have worn them on the bike for several hours and they never moved, I never even knew they were there. The mesh material is breathable and not sweaty. I would totally recommend these.
I find these a much better fit than the inserts that come with my jeans. These do not move around once on and are very comfortable. A well designed product that offers good ventilation. Bought these to go along with the Trooper shorts which I also highly recommend.
Great product, bought these as the knee armour in my textile trousers wouldn't stay in place while riding, slip these on under my jeans in the morning and wear them all day. Very comfortable, don't move around and fine for walking in felt strange the first few days but once broken in wear them for 10 hours at a time with no issues. Only time will tell if they last but great so far.
All you knee 'd
These are great. Comfortable, even for long periods. Fit under Kevlar jeans easily and under Tommy Hilfigers while I wandered around the house trying them out when I first received them ! Hopefully I'll never need to find out what they are like in a spill but feel well made and remain on the knee where inbuilt pads move with the jeans.
A really good product. Easily fitted and the Velcro straps keeps the guards nice and snug. No problems walking about with them on. Only and slightly negative comment regarding tightness behind the knee when seated. If you have foot pegs I don't see any problems. More comfortable than trouser inserts.
Uncomfortable and painful above the patella
Sportsbikeshop were speedy in sending these out, so excellent service from them, but alas, the knee guards are super uncomfortable. They press hard onto the knee cap whilst riding, and the top of the protector digs into the bit above the patella before the femur so I can't walk in them. They also make your knee sweat a lot! Back to the drawing board for knee protectors I think (or maybe use them OVER the trousers so you can take them off the second you're off the bike, bit of a hassle though.)
Great under jean protection
These were recommended to me by a mate. Instead of fitting protection in the jeans. It was good advice as they are reasonably comfy and do stay in place, all the time. Great service from Sportsbikeshop. Real quick delivery. I've bought from them a few times with no problems.
The right protection for City Commuter
I was looking for something that offers good level of protection but not too heavy or bulky to commute when the weather is warmer. More importantly something discreet so I can walk into the meeting room even if I am in a rush. I have the Dainese Knee V E1 Knee Protectors, they offer great protection. However they are not ideal to go under the jeans, instead it has to go over them. If you are an attention seeker and you don't mind the batman armour bottom looks then go for them. I have used many Knox products before and it is a brand I trust when it comes to protection. So after reading all the helpful comments on here and elsewhere I have decided to give these Flex Lite a run. As usual Sportsbikeshop' service never disappoints, order today arrives the next! First impression, material are very flexible, it's tough and quite thick. This football jersey type material covers the protector so it is in tube shape. After putting them on, and adjusted the strap, I was surprised how comfortable they are. The material doesn't rub against the jeans (*no problem for skinny jeans, they look very discrete), sits perfectly on top of you knees. Its ergonomic design and shape provides a perfect hold. Even more comfortable than the D3O. Sizing wise, I have thin legs and I don't have any problem, the straps accommodates that perfectly. I have been commuting with them everyday since I brought them. Sat through traffic on a hot day. My legs gets a bit sweaty, the protectors didn't stick to my skin thanks to jersey type material. Even on long day of riding, I didn't even remember I had them on the whole time. I no longer need to take out the protectors before putting the jeans in the wash! They are knee protectors so they won't be right for you if you want shin protection as well. I usually ride with my Sidi Boots which offers great shin protection so for me the Knox knee protectors are perfect!
I've tried the Knox knee protectors a few times now and notice they are comfortable, especially on the bike, Also they stay put, unlike the velcro'd ones on my Kevlar jeans. Also comfy off the bike if strap not tied too tight. If the jeans rise up, they stay on the knee.
