TCX X-Street Waterproof Boots - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Look good, comfy and offer decent protection.
They look the part, and feel comfortable to wear when riding or walking around. They're quite sturdy and rigid, which feels like it would offer some good protection if you were unfortunate enough to come off. Good for daily commutes and riding around, but probably not for anything more serious. Very happy with the product, exactly what I wanted.
Having seen very positive reviews on SBS I took the plunge and ordered a pair. Service from SBS was excellent as usual, very quick delivery. I have a pair of TCX gore tex boots that I really like, The boots fit me well with plenty of room without feeling too big, I'm a UK7, the boots are 41. They were stiff initially, but felt really good on and it only took a couple of hours wear to break them in nice and comfy. They are very well made, leather is good quality - good protection too although I how I never have to put it to the test. I've been wearing them every day since they arrived, they are very comfortable and look like normal hi top trainers and not like bike gear at all.I'm thinking about buying a second pair as TCX don't make this model now! The designer "dirty" marks on the white sole come off with wear, which is good! I'm really pleased with these boots and recommend them without hesitation.
Great multi-purpose boot
I bought these to use as multi-purpose riding/socialising boots so as my RST sports boots weren't practical. These are great for this purpose, as you'd hardly notice they're riding boots just looking at them. But they still offer adequate protection. The upper is thick top-grain leather that feels sturdy and abrasion resistant, with ankle protection and a reinforced toe-box I feel confident these will protect me in a crash. The leather is fully waterproof, although time will tell how long this last. However, this does mean they get toasty as there's no ventilation. Conclusion: I think these are the best casual-wear riding boots you can get.
Very pleased with these boots
These boots were everything I hoped they would be and a useful summer alternative to the more traditional motorbike boot. I was worried I might feel a little less protective ed with these but they feel very secure and protective. I've not tested them in really heavy rain but they've been absolutely fine in showers so far. Very comfortable and discreet and allow for a little more airflow in summer. They also look great.
Lightweight and sturdy
Bought these for the lady to ride with me. She likes the comfort and weight as well as the feel of sturdiness. Have not tried them in the rain yet so cannot say anything about the wet protection. And not about the crash protection other than that they feel sturdy for this type of boot.
These boots are comfy and look great, you can certainly wear them all day. I don't find them difficult to put on/take off. I haven't checked how waterproof they are yet but I would imagine that after a blast in the rain they will look rubbish, so I plan to avoid using them in the rain as long as possible. I find the sizing a little on the tight size, yes they're my size, but only just.
Comfortable and sturdy
Well reinforced and very rigid. Also comfortable for walking around. Generally very pleased with my purchase. Knocked one star off however because they're quite difficult to put on and take off. You have to loosen the laces all the way down and use a shoe-horn. I guess this is the price you pay for proper reinforcement. Also, could do with some reinforcement on the gear-change toe. Generally very pleased though.
Very nice and comfortable boot
Just got these and look cool and first impressions are they are comfortable. Really hope I don't crash test them but appear quite sturdy but will obviously not protect like a full race boot but good enough for town work.
Comfort and protection
I'm an old school, leather jacket and jeans (with Kevlar) biker and wanted a pair of boots I could ride in and then walk about in at events and on trips and didn't look out of place. I wore the TCXs all day strait out of the box. They were comfortable with good support and feel like they have good protection for ankles as well. I wear orthopedic insoles so the removable inner is a plus point for me. Great service from Sportsbikeshop as ever. Very happy, these boots will be my regular riding boots for some time, hopefully.
I bought them because I like the model and reading the other reviews seemed very good to me. I can only say that I really love them. I can walk in there for a day without any problem as they are very comfortable. They don't look bulky at all (that why I bought them mainly). I love the colour as it fits perfectly with jeans as well after riding. I highly recommend these boots.
Review: After 3 years of wear.
I have been wearing these for commuting to work 5 days a week, for 1.5 hours a day of riding, all throughout the year. They are a very strong, sturdy pair of boots. My only gripe is that there isn't much grip on the soles. Yes it takes longer to deal with laces, but I prefer laces as then you can wear additional socks etc when it's cold. Great boots, which are still lasting well, after 3 years of riding so far. Waterproof to boot. ;-)
Good shoes, that also happen to be protective
I was reluctant to buy these, I wasn't sure they would be any sturdier than my normal leather shoes but they are. I have worn them in heavy rain and they have so far been completely waterproof. They are however far more work to get on and off than regular trainers, due to how rigid the boot is, and laces take longer to deal with than the Velcro found on other boots. Despite having a wide foot they are comfortable enough after they have been worn in. Also delivery was far quicker than expected, arriving the next day for no charge.
I've been wearing these the past few weeks throughout the bad weather on my commute to work. I can honestly say they are amazing! The boots offer decent enough ankle and toe protection for my commute and for shorter trips else where. So far they seem to be fully waterproof although I've not tested them in a heavy downpour but I don't doubt they'll live up to the job. In terms of comfort I'd go as far as saying they equally as comfortable as a normal pair of trainers however can be a bit of a pain to get on if you don't loosen the laces a fair amount. Gear changes are really easy, and the braking feedback is great. Will definitely be getting another pair when these ones are past it!
Soft outer look, hard inner spirit
I didn't now what to expect from a pair off sneaker looking boots, but now when I have them I can tell you that they are sturdy, very sturdy. They are much better and more sturdy than any other low mc-boots I've tried. You feel very safe and locked in when you put these on. If you are looking for a pair of boots that look soft on the outside but offer great protection I would recommend these.
