Best helmet I've bought so far

I was a bit nervous at first buying a motocross style helment like the Hornet DS, but after having it for well over a month now I needn't have worried. Reviews I read previously mentioned loud wind noise, catching it in the wind when doing a life saver and so on. Whilst it is a bit noisier than a full face helment, the ear plugs I normally wear for the longer journey cut most out. It fits perfectly and is much lighter than my previous helmets. When doing a life saver I haven't really noticed the wind catching the peak and certaintly not to the extent that other reviews made out - even at motorway cruising speed. Ventilation is perfect and with the big visor I can see more around me - the peak is handy for keeping the sun out of my eyes when the sun pops out unexpectedly. I would seriously recommend this product to other riders looking for a motocross/dual sport helmet.

Blinding bit of kit

First, and foremost, it's an Arai so I won't waste my time (or yours) reviewing fit and comfort. I don't need to because you can't beat Arai for fit and comfort. The X4 is a blinding crash helmet for other reasons. 1. View; shoulder checks/life savers are a dream due to the wide viewing angles. The best I've seen. 2. Ventilation; loads of it, don't really need a pin-lock to be honest. 3. Peak; won't try to unscrew your head whilst moving at speed, it's great when the sun is high in the sky. But one issue: - as stated in point 2 you get loads of ventilation, which means you're going to freeze your face off in winter. So to summarize: - Fantastic for UK summer (or doing the Paris Dakar) but will revert back to my Viper GT come winter. If you can afford it have the X4 for summer and an alternative for the winter months. I love this crash helmet, so glad I bought it!
