If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
These are really comfy, not too heavy or bulky. Quite lightweight compared to what I was used to.
These are my first motorcycle jeans after trying on so many different types and options. They are slightly bigger than my usual size, so you probably could go down a size, however, they are a good fit, and feel comfortable, and the fabric is soft and stretchy which is important for me. They are quite thick material too, I'm sure this will be advantageous in the event of a scrape. I will need to wear a belt with them but that's not a deal breaker. They were a good price too, and as a new rider I didn't want to sped too much money until I become more experienced and really start to know what my preferred style will be, so I think they are a great first pair option. It's not clear which armour to get with them, it would be good to have the option to choose the armour or sell them with armour at the point of sale.
These jeans feel and look like fashion jeans yet they have so many qualities of protective motorbike trousers that you'll be surprised and impressed. They are thicker than regular jeans because of the mesh lining and they are roomier because you need space to accommodate knee and hip protectors. I do recommend that you go DOWN at least one size though - I ordered 16 and they were enormous! I changed to the 14 and they fit me well. I have added a belt because you need them to stay put when you're sitting on your bike. The fabric feels incredibly soft and stretchy giving a figure-hugging fit - it's amazing that they offer as much protection as my usual bike trousers. Worn with chunky lace-up boots and a jacket, I look casual and 'on trend' this Autumn but I know that I have the reassurance of these high spec jeans. They are not, as another reviewer stated, slim leg fit, they are more of a 'straight leg' fit. Thank you Sportsbikeshop for your excellent response when exchanging these for the smaller size - quick, friendly and efficient customer service!
These trousers are generally good. These are my first pair of motorcycle trousers and so far I have used them on a road trip in India as a pillion and temperatures over 30 degrees and felt very comfortable.
So, the trousers look good but they are not slim fit as per the image. There were also a few problems with my orders due to size. I believe this is something easily solvable on the website, as the sizes should be in inches rather than numbers. The first time, I ordered my UK size and got it in US (much bigger) and had to specify I required UK size on my exchange order (which was done promptly).
As a curvy woman, I have this issue with waist to hips ratio, which on these particular trousers is minimized as it is a women's cut.
The trousers have a nice high back but are relatively low in the front sitting just at the belly button, so good to be sitting without showing much.
However, the covec lining and padding render the trousers a bit heavy and requiring a belt when not in the bike. Could this be integrated in the trouser fabric itself? That would be a great improvement.
The material is extremely comfortable and despite all the layers is not hot. The knee and hip pockets are in the right place and fit easily the armour.
I definitely recommend these trousers.
The SR6 is a laminated unique construction offering superior strength to similar weight aramids. Covec material has zero moisture retention and does not absorb moisture, as such does not degrade like high performance Aramids of a similar construction and weight. The SR6 is tested 2 to 3 times greater for abrasion resistance using EN 13595-1 than other Aramids of a similar weight and construction. The Covec SR6 jeans have a low thermal conductivity which prevents heat transfer, yarns such as Dyneema have high strength but the high thermal conductivity is likely to encourage skin burns from road friction, as is the case with Polyester and Nylon based materials. In comparison to many materials used in motorcycle jeans, Covec SR6 has all the attributes required including high cut strength exceeding EN 13595 testing during development. Other materials that class themselves as high-abrasion resistant have limited other qualities and would by comparison have considerably lower cut resistance.
