The label inside your boots will tell you about what tests they've gone through, and how they did. Here's how to decipher those labels for yourself...
Have tried several riding trainers, and found that I was using some John Doe's for most of the last couple of years because they are so comfy. But the trade off with them, was that they do seem very light on protection. I did have some Dainese waterproof street rockers, which were beautiful and rock solid, but really warm, so decided my replacements would be vented, non membrane Dainese's. It was between these and the york for me, but I preferred the flash of white in the summer of these, and am happy to report I'm delighted. I had thought they might look a bit young for my advancing age, but they dont, and the air flow and venting is really much better than I was expecting, and they are, as with the street rockers - rock solid. really, really happy with a superb shoe (and of course superb SBS service). fwiw I'm bang in the middle of two sizes, and plumped for the larger size and v pleased I did. they are tough to get on and off to start, but break in and get easier - all the more reassuring for a protective item of clothing.
Very comfy and well vented shoes.
