Every time you put your hand in a glove, it should be passing the CE label that shows it's been tested as protective kit. We'll show you how to understand what it's telling you...
Overall happy, but would just make a couple of points to set expectations for others...
1) The power wires supplied are a bit tight on length for the long side (you have a short wire and a long wire, depending on which side you want to connect out of your jacket and to the bike). Once the long side had been run up my sleeve and tidily down the inside of my jacket, there wasn't really enough length on it to give some slack to the connector, so it pulled out rather easily
2) The heat is delivered great to everywhere but your fingertips; they don't get any heat. And for me, this is the one bit that gets it worse and gets the most uncomfortable! So this was a bit of a disappointment and explains the rating.
I don't wear them much now as I have a bike with heated grips and hand guards; the latter saves the finger tips a fair bit, I think.
Everything I wanted in a glove for bike riding. Well worth the money. My hands are like toast. They are very comfortable and have great protection all round. Best Buy I've ever bought in a motorbike glove.
As a sufferer of white finger tried heated grips which are better than nothing but not good enough, so tried gerbing gloves as they heat right to the tips of the fingers, as recommended to me by a member of staff, what a difference, not as hot as I expected but very good
No more frozen fingers. My riding season has been extended with the help of these gloves. Not having to worry about numb fingers anymore is fantastic
Only reason I'm not giving the gloves 5 stars is due to the wiring. The wiring is around 6 inches too short in my opinion. The gloves themselves are excellent, can't fault them. Gerbing can supply an extension lead however the standard wiring should really be long enough in the first place.
My hands have always been cold but I put off buying these because I thought they wouldn't be comfortable or fit properly. They are so soft and supple and fit perfectly that I wish I had bought them sooner. You don't feel the 'heat' instead it's just like it's a summer day and you just don't feel the cold. Amazing kit.
I've had a number of Gerbing products over the years and they make bad weather riding a pleasure as opposed to a chore, turns out if you're warm and dry it doesn't matter what the weather is doing. These gloves fit under your cuffs (essential in the rain or the water runs down your sleeves and fills your gloves) they are comfortable, warm and keep the water out if looked after and proofed regularly (I use Scarpa HS12 on all my leather gear)
Plenty of cable and easy to wire to bike battery and doesn't take long to connect to wire in the jacket; I hold the ends while I put the jacket on; soon get used to connecting the glove and then putting it on. First heated clothing I've had but really impressed. Just above freezing and rode for an hour at medium setting, never had warm hands before at this temperature. Glove no more bulky than my winter gauntlets but better constructed; loads of protection and are comfortable to wear - no sweaty hands and no breaking in. I'm top end hand measurement in the L so as others have I ordered the size above and the XL is a perfect fit. They can fit over the sleeves of my leather jacket. Not been out in the wet yet so can't comment.
After 45 years of riding, and fitting numerous heated handle bar grips to my bikes, and quads. I have found the answer! Gerbing heated gloves. Great quality leather gloves, unobtrusive heat with the settings available, all of your hands uniformally warm.
Have only recently got these hence confirming short term review. Very good quality gloves, easy to wire up to the bike and buttons seem easy to use and the coloured lights for settings is useful. Nice to keep whole hand warm instead of just palms on the grips.
I needed to sort something out for my cold thumbs while riding in winter. I have Oxford heated grips already which get really hot but only heat what is touching them. I read the review on MCN about heated gloves and thought these Gerbing jobbies will do me if MCN rate them. Looked on www.Sportbikeshop.co.uk and lucky for me, they were discounted ????
I ordered the XR over the XRL as I didn't want battery power and the XR fits under my RST Adventure jacket cuffs nicely. I'm usually a medium size glove but reviews said buy a bigger size so I did. They are a little on the big size but they will allow for a liner should I ever decide to ride to the North Pole,
Fitting was simple and I stitch the socket into my jacket liner, maybe not a good idea but we'll see.
Putting the glove on is a bit of a faff but by the third time you get the routine down and it takes little more time than normal gloves. Quicker than liners and gloves for sure. The gloves are very comfortable and I've read in other reviews, they need no breaking in. They are soft and supple from the start. I can confirm this, they are very comfy.
How hot are they? I don't think the word HOT can really be used, which isn't a bad thing. First time out was a cold frosty day. Set off at 4 degrees and rode to the highest paved pass in England (627m) and up there it was 0 degree and snow on the road. I hadn't worked out how to up the heat at this point and I thought that this was their limit. I found that a longer press after power up turn the button orange and this made me smile. I didn't feel the need to have the gloves on high, only medium. Even on high, I don't think they will ever get Oxford heated grips hot, but they were nice and warm on medium at zero degrees. My thumbs love them ???? I did a total of 150 miles that day and my hands (or thumbs) didn't get cold all that time. I stood up at one point which unplugged the gloves and within 5 seconds my hands felt the cold, showing how effective the heating element is
I can't vouch for their waterproofing as it's been dry when I've worn them but I see they have a visor wipe built in and a touch screen pad on both forefingers.
I'd have given the glove 5 stars if they had a coily wire like a telephone where it plugs into the bike as the loom is a touch on the short side. As mentioned, you can't stand up on the bike with the gloves plugged in. That is the only down side I can think of.
If you are looking for heated gloves, these are well worth the money
Very warm and dry. By fair the best pair of gloves I've owned.
I bought these gloves due to the fact I suffer from bad circulation,so after a while my hands get cold .
I looked at many other gloves before getting these and decided to go with Gerbing XR model.
The build quality is excellent leather is superb and the protection is too , After a bit of work fixing to battery and adjusting the length of cable you need it's pretty straight forward just plug in and ride .
The gloves have three settings I tried them all and work well after a while I turn them off as it was a really hot day and the gloves where fine without heating on.
They are a bit expensive but these gloves come with life time guarantee which is really good and will last you that long.If you do a lot of riding in all weathers I definitely would recommend this item .
Have tried these once, and just recently, so not the right weather for an opinion on their effectiveness. Went out in around 10 degrees. My hands weren't as warm as I expected them to be, despite being on their highest setting. I feel as though I'll still need my heated grips in winter. The fit is great & the velcro very strong. Great quality overall & a long, peace-of-mind guarantee. Terrific SBS service yet again.
Not convinced about these.
Right glove stopped working after a week.
The heat level on maximum was not excessive enough for me to use on the lower setting.
In the rain, I could not feel them at all.
Sportsbikeshop have replaced them straight away.
Giving the new set a trail in the morning..
I spend 3 hours on my bike a day...
Excellent heated gloves, perfect fit, I wear L and L was perfect for me, great quality soft leather. keeps my hands and fingers lovely and warm. I had to order a coiled extension as the cable that comes with the gloves is a little short, useable, but the extension make it so much better.
These gloves are useful so far. But the first pair had to be returned as the right glove failed almost immediately and wasn't receiving any current. So I'm on my second pair. The heat is good, but I wish the power leads were 5cm longer as they pull across the right sleeve and the back. Sportsbikeshop were great handling the return (as ever - the guys are brilliant) but be aware there may not be much stock as it took a while to get the replacements.
Bought from the Leeds shop, staff really helpful.
I intended to buy the Keis gloves but preferred the fit on the Gerbing so went with them.
These gloves are very comfortable and warm even when they are switched off. I havnt used on a really cold day yet, but they have worked fine during the cooler days that I have worn them.
The original battery power cable was just a tad to short for me so I later purchased the coiled extension lead.... I think this should be included in the kit. I think it's important to try gloves on with your existing jacket to make sure they fit and are practical to use.
Having tried them...... knowing what I know now, would I buy them again.... Yes I would.
IF they perform as well on a freezing day I would maybe rate 5* .... time will tell.
Dunno why I held off buying some....
