Great Product love voice control
25 April 2024 by Philip S
Never had a headset before, me and the wife always used signals or jabs in me ribs. I was going to buy the cardo spirit hd which is ride recommended, but this was on offer with more features. All I can say is buy it, you won't be disappointed. Make sure if you buy this system on voice control download UK speaking language as it will probably be in American and won't understand you as good.

Good overall intercom

Does exactly what it says in the box, very load speakers can still hear no matter what speed.
Reason for only 4 stars instructions a poor and takes a while to figure out how to connect 4 intercoms. But apart from that very good.

Well worth the money

I was dubious at first as I've never bothered with intercoms before but this is a cracking piece of kit. Bought the duo to talk to my partner who has just started riding and it's made everything much easier. In the past I would just use headphones for music but it would hurt my ears after a bit, this is a seamless fit and I wouldn't even know there were speakers until there's actually something playing. The main unit isn't too big or cumbersome and looks good, easy enough to remove for charging also. The mobile app is handy, can control everything through it as well as have a number of registered devices for quick connect. One annoying thing (not a Cardo issue) is that on IPhones you can't use intercom and your own music at the same time, but you can have the radio and intercom together. I believe on Android this is different but Pre purchase I didn't realise this was a thing so it's a note for others considering it

Excellent comms

A very worthy upgrade from my Scala Q3. Software works smoother, better connectivity and music integration than before. Not had a chance to Terri extensive rider to rider yet, however, careful if you're wearing a hoodie, the volume wheel will be tripped when looking left or right, and you'll suddenly have that Metallica song on full blast!

So these things are a minefield and many say buy the cheap ebay ones but that seems like a false economy to me and you get what you pay for. I ride all year so needed waterproof. I only ride with two other people and never at the same time so mesh seems pointless as all my research says no extra range. We tested these and were able to get about 1km line of sight and much shorter in built up areas as expected of any non-networked radio. When back in range they auto connect. Very easy to install and set up with the app. Clear intercom up to about 65mph in a peaked adventure lid. I use apple and can use siri clearly at 80mph. Works with spotify (siri) easily though I often struggled to get it to choose the correct playlist but I think that is because its got numbers in. Worked with google maps navigation no issues though remember to turn up the speech to high in the google map settings otherwise it will be quiter than the music. I found apple maps did not announce. Main neg is that calls are really quiet. When I first used it I was wearing £20 ear plugs and even at 30mph I could not hear the call. With out plugs it was significantly better. I have fiddled with settings but think its phone based. I had no issues telling siri to send a whatsapp message on the motorway. A couple of commands dont work around the intercom but its easier using the button anyway. I cant get it to play music and intercom at the same time and I thought about this then wondered why on earth I would want the intercom on for longer than a dedicated conversation. This again may be a settings thing. Top tip. As the road noise gets louder, dont shout at it. Speak normally. It will not recognise your voice otherwise.
These were a lot of money but about middle of the road category wise. I am happy with the purchase and unless you ride with groups and require the mesh network functionality to spread out across 3 miles and a big group of riders, these are all you need.
Do not expect to set it up perfectly and ride first time. You need to experiment because once riding you cant change the settings for obvious reasons!!

Sleek with Useful Features
15 August 2021 by Simon R
Moving from Sena 10s this unit is slimmer and a little better to fit in my Shark and Icon helmets.
Great voice control features but so far they don't always work.
Good sound quality and volume.
Easy to use.
No one makes a perfect intercom system for motorcycles, they all have some negatives.
I would recommend Freecom 4+

This kit is easy to setup with a nice app. The fiddliest thing will be routing cables and taking the liner out your helmet. Make sure you read up on how to do it so as not to damage your lid liner. Intercom works great but I am sure all bikers know how much wind noise there is in a helmet at anything above about 50mph this set does a reasonable job at auto increasing volume to try and overcome the wind noise but a lot of definition in the sound is lost. This is not really a negative just a fact of all intercom systems. Other wind noise mitigations are needed, I am considering custom iem. This set uses a standard 3.5mm jack for the speakers which is a massive bonus and the main reason I bought it as it allows the use of standard headphones or iem should you want which should reduce that pesky wind noise. Wheely in the way

On the whole I'd say this is an awesome product that myself and my partner really love. The quality, ease of use etc are all brilliant but the one draw back I've found is the wheel... I'm not sure whether I've got no neck in comparison with the rest of civilisation but quite often when I turn my head from side to side I either deafen myself with ultra loud music or wonder why it's suddenly gone quiet because I've activated the wheel with my shoulder! Other than that, I can't fault the product.

Great unit - easy to use
16 March 2021 by Joe P
Very impressed with the whole thing. The packaging is well thought out, the units come with a bit of charge which helps for setup. The app makes things super easy to use. Sound quality is good. I haven't tested the battery life fully but it had no issues with a 2 hour ride the other day after a 40 minute test phone call.

Intercom
14 March 2021 by A R
I took a long time to decide on which Intercom to go for and I finally decided on the Cardo Freecom4+. It's really good quality, easy to install but had to use the video guide rather than the instructions. I'm a bloke so instructions are no good. My only criticism is the self- adhesive pads they didn't stick too well to the inside of helmet, when seating the boom mic they came as did the patches on the clips to the boom mic. Put them back in place, replaced the internal padding, not had any issues them since. Sound it good when on the road even with the flip front up on my helmet. The JBL speakers are really good too. The free firmware upgrades are also a bonus not mentioned anywhere within the literature but it is within the videos I watched. Depends on your needs and pocket, I worked on the mantra buy cheap, buy twice. I would recommend particularly if you want to speak with your pillion and other riders in your group at the same time.
