TecMate OptiMate 2 Battery Optimiser (SAE)
Customer Product Reviews
Taking charge of battery conditioning
New bike, new charger. Updated version of my previous one, but with a better connector - the previous one, which I think Oxford still use, is prone to wear and corrosion - much sturdier solution with the same excellent battery care Im looking for, Also can now hang the charger on the bike, underneath the bike cover, clear of weather, thanks to a couple of integral holes in the case moulding - again not a feature of the older model
Nice little device, with all the connections needed. Something i have never bothered with before, but I like having this now. Having run my battery down a couple of times, not only is it great to have it charged, but it also gives you quick access to get a jump start if needed. Quality seems good, I guess time will tell.
Brilliant quality charger
This is my 2nd optimate if it lasts as long as the last one 20+years of constant use i will have no complaints easy to use straight out the box good to know your bike wont have a flat battery if not used for a long time I would not buy any other make from my personal experience also great service from sportsbikeshop yet again thanks guys & gals
Bought to replace a previous Optimate I was given 13 years ago by someone who was throwing it out due to its age! Used continuously, so they last. And it kept my last bike battery in good condition for 11 years, so they work too. I've also had another Optimate 2 for a couple of years and so far so good.
Peace of Mind
This is my 2nd OptiMate....I have had one for 2 yrs/winters and it has functioned perfectly on my 250 while off the road during the winters.New bike on it's way so New OptiMate to go with it....Easy to use , worry free...always have a charged battery...Simple.
Reliablep, affordable and ease of use
Optimate 2 charger does what it says on the box, realiable, easy to use and affordable. Gives you peace of mind your bike battery is kept at its optimum. Having two different methods of connection is useful. This is the second one I've purchased hence àn obvious choice for me.
Just the job!
So simple to use, just plug in and forget, keeps the battery in perfect condition over winter ready for the summer season, so good i got two, one for a car that I only use in summer (don't want salt on it, it's not a bag of chips) Very good product, would recommend to any one.
Peace of mind at a small price
Brilliant - my motorbike is all tucked up for the winter and I can now rest knowing the battery is being looked after - delivery timely product and extras all much better than anticipated - very pleased highly recommend
Got this little charger to keep the battery on my CBR600F Sport topped up. Easy to operate & the extra cables to attach to the battery & cabletie to the bike frame makes trickle charging simple. No need to get under the seat or anything like that. Job done
We have a Hybrid car (non plug in) which only has a small 12v battery in the boot which powers up the main system. The car is only used for short journeys & isnt used every day. If not used for 3-4 days the 12v battery drains (alarm etc..) & is not able to power up the system. Attaching a jump start pack is not easy due to restricted space in the garage for opening the bonnet. So I purchased an OptiMate 2 with a (1.8 extension lead permanently connected to the battery) which the missus just plugs in after parking each night. We no longer have a flat battery & she no longer has to shout "Dave, can you sort the car out again" resulting in an extra half hour in bed for me. Happy days!
My last Optimate (a Mark III, oddly enough), has just expired - and that dates back to c. 2007 - so it lasted around 11 years - not too shabby. If this one lasts a similar amount of time, I'll be happy. Opted for the same again - as, whilst I wanted to stay in the mid-price-point area, or below, I didn't have as much faith in the Oxford options (read some of the reviews, here or elsewhere!) - they're quite flimsy apparently. The SAE connections - it works, and its probably a bit more robust than the old white connectors... Though why Europe should be afflicted with SAE anything ....? The 'American Standard' - hardly the world's best engineering nation! (Hardly Ferguson, Timex, dodgy Space-shuttles, MicroShaft, ...). Still, only took a few minutes to swap over my battery lead. In short, recommended.
Just the job for topping up my battery
I purchased this in a bit of a hurry as I had noticed my one year old bike was sounding quite sluggish on ignition. When the charger arrived, I quickly fitted the battery harness with minimal fuss and left it charging overnight. Next morning, battery was fully topped up and has been fine ever since! Will be using over next winter to maintain battery when the bike isn't being ridden.
