RST Thermotech Heated Glove - Black

Good for the car

Bought to wear in (fully enclosed) car. In use for one month so far. Impressive battery charge. I find I need to heat up for 8 minutes before use. This is because the thumbs don't run as warm. Tested in a room at 16C - after 8 mins on hottest setting, the two thumbs were 42C and 39C respectively while the little fingers were 46C and 48C. This may be a bikers thing with the latter more exposed? My problem digits are the thumbs and index fingers. Obviously they are a bit bulky for driving but I have an automatic, so the hands stay on the wheel until my hands and car are warmed-up enough and I can remove the gloves.

Gerbing 12V XR-12 Hybrid Gloves - Black

Very good, worth the money

Fist impressions are they are a very well constructed pair of gloves. They are big and bulky which gives you lots of confidence that they will keep all of the weather out, as well as being ductile enough to still have good control of the bike. The leather is nice and soft, so wearing in takes not time at all. Its a big glove and secures nicely over a jacket, it will never go under a cuff (but I don't really know why you would want that). Gerbing also sell a version of this glove that is specifically designed to go under a cuff if you are that way inclined, making most of the complaints on here redundant. I have been using them down to 5 degrees C without heating and they have been very good. 5 is the limit, you would probably turn the heating on above this just for pure comfort. One gripe is there are 4 settings red, amber, green and then flashing green. Flashing green is annoying because this is 25% and probably the most likely setting. Even more annoying is that while plugging into a dodgy battery I find out there is also a blue LED for errors etc. I would have much preferred the blue for 25% and left flashing lights for the error messages. All in all an almost perfect glove for it specific job. And, very good value for money once you have the misfortune of sampling the pitiful offerings from other brands for 90% of the price.

Not bad at all

Given the previous reviews, I went for the size up and shouldn't have done. I generally take a large, and should have gone with my instinct. Anyway, only thing I don't like is the lack of any hard knuckle protection, but other than that, they're really warm, give plenty of feel, and VERY reasonably priced. 4/5.
