The label inside your boots will tell you about what tests they've gone through, and how they did. Here's how to decipher those labels for yourself...
In my opinion these look great, and the quality and protection matches up - if you like the look of them I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Yes you have to lace up the upper part of the boot to put them on/off, but equally you get a custom comfy fit. And there's no zip to fail in a couple of years then rendering them unusable. So they're a good long term bet. There is a very discrete gear change pad on the inside toe of each, so it's unlikely that the boot will get marked longer term. Personally I wouldn't wear this type of boot for a big trip, I'd want more protection, but for knocking about on the bike locally they're great. Being quality leather there's no squeaks or whatever when walking around in them. I'm a UK size 8.5 and the EU 43 is a good fit.
