Excellent helmet exactly what I wanted. Backed up by excellent service from the team at sportsbikeshop.
If you've never purchased from Sportsbikeshop, don't hesitate. They have to be the easiest company to buy from, with entirely frictionless procedures and, of course, their famous fantastic value. As an example of the ease of buying from SBS, I wanted a plain white helmet for the hot, sunny summer days when my black helmet tries hard to boil my brain. I picked a Bell SRT Modular [as I'm very happy with my black one of these] and, on the basis of the good fit of my current helmet, I ordered the same size but in white. I ordered it around 4-ish on Friday and the lid arrived by DPD at 10am the next day [a Saturday]. Unfortunately, despite the lids being the same size and model, the new one was too tight and I knew it would cause headaches during a ride. Consequently, I decided to go up one size and ordered that at 3:45pm on Saturday afternoon. It arrived before 09:30am on Sunday! I filled in the returns request for the one that was too small and received a DPD address label in next to no time via e-mail, together with a list of half a dozen alternative outlets where I could take the helmet for its return to SBS. Now that is customer service! If only all life's transactions could be that "painless".
As for the helmet, the new one is called a 2022 model, so that might explain the difference in sizing, as my existing black one is earlier than 2022. If you're looking for a [near] do-it-all helmet, which flips and has a drop-down sun visor, then I heartily recommend the Bell SRT Modular. Aside from the black one trying to cook my brain juices on very sunny days [black being a natural absorber of sunshine], this lid has served me well for thousands of miles of touring, so I hope the white one will do the same. Yes, modular helmets can be noisier than some [but not all] fixed full-face ones but, with fresh 3M "Classic" ear plugs fitted, the wind hiss is entirely manageable. If I had a magic wand, I'd add a peak for when the sun is very low in the sky but I've tried a couple of lids with that feature and found them wanting in one regard or another.
So, in conclusion, a great helmet purchased from a fabulous supplier at an extremely good price.
Thank you Sportsbikeshop.
My last flip helmet was the Nolan which served me well for a number of years, but the bell is so much more comfortable and very easy to flip up the helmet compared to the Nolan. I would definitely recommend this helmet and a great price as well. Sportsbikeshop delivery brilliant as always
Great fit, great price all round and comfortable
Decent mid price range modular helmet. Good fit, comfortable. Had a couple of minor gripes in that it is noisier and windier than my older HJC lid, same price and sun blind not really shaded enough for me. Apart from those 2 "minor" issues still a good buy for the money.
Exactly as described and does what it should. Top quality and very comfortable. Sizing is spot on as far as I can tell.
I've gone through quite a few helmets lately due to my stupid shaped head and other helmets hurting after a while.
I love this helmet. Super comfy, I actually fell asleep in it when test fitting it for over an hour. No pain!!
After searching on Internet, the Bell helmet is my favourite due to quality and had a high recommendation and need modular because of my cochlear implant (hearing aid), otherwise it would slide off each time taking off and putting it on if it wasn't modular type.
Even watched the YouTube video from sports bike shop giving review on this bell helmet.
Ordered it and very happy with it. However the sun visor didn't work as it should.
The customer service ( spoken to Harley) who was excellent and exchanged for replacement very quickly.
Really happy with bell helmet and will be ordering another bell deft modular soon, so I can have a choice depend on my mood to choose. Thank you and definitely recommend your services to others.
Good quality and looks good.
This item replaces 2 x AGV K5 helmets and is my first flip up lid. Quality of the shell and lining is high as you'd expect from Bell. The Pinlock setup is a significant upgrade over the AGV helmets. On the SRT Modular, the inside of the visor is moulded to the shape of the Pinlock insert such that it fits in perfectly and doesn't drop out of position. I've had zero misting so far and ridden through February cold and rain. It is a much louder helmet than I'm used to, it is surprisingly loud even at 50-60mph speeds. Integrated sun visor is very good, accessed from a sliding chin switch. My only gripe is that the flip up mechanism is very stiff, and requires two hands to lift up/down otherwise you end up pulling the helmet up or down over your eyes. This might loosen up over time we'll see. It's a decent commuter helmet but I wouldn't want to tour with it unless wearing ear plugs.
Yet to use in anger but the helmet is well made, operation is easy, fit is size correct, it's a little heavy compared to a full face but worth the trade for the versatility
Only had it a few weeks and bought as my second lid. Never owned a Bell lid before so thought I would give it a go. I use a Shoei Neotec2 as my normal lid and to be fair to Bell it runs very close to the Shoei in all round performance from fit, comfort and styling. Although slightly noisy on higher speeds I have the comfort of an electrical touring screen that takes most of it away. As a modular lid it is up there for the money it is a top runner. The vents and internal visor are better than the Shoei and although not made for a built in comms kit I fitted a Sena on with little work. My only negative would be as a fiberglass lid and being black in colour I already have my first stone chip on it which shows up easily. Big of black colour magic and it helps. Not really a fan of the buckle chin straps but I am slowly getting used to them as the Neotec also has it but I really am nit picking as the overall package from Bell is way better than I expected. As usual I don't buy any of my kit from anywhere except sportsbikeshop and as usual all the expectation was met even when the offer of a model change was made by them as goodwill gesture from the fantastic Sally Alexander from customer support. Sally was brilliant and made things happen with the minimal amount of fuss with her 'can do' attitude. All in All another great product from an equally great company.
A really good looking helmet, well made and has the advantage of being a flip lid , awesome colour.
Ordered online after trying helmet on. Arrived next day. Well packaged. Great service as usual from sbs. First time with a flip front helmet for me. I'm very impressed with it. Sena kit fitted easily. 5*
For a flip helmet its very comfortable and light weight, good vision when riding. All in all a great lid
Good helmet really good quality tried a schuberth c3pro far to closed in the bell is much more like a normal full face helmet. XL is slightly to large for me as I am a 59 which used to be bells extra large but now it is 61-62 but fitted a larger set of cheek pads and all good. Nice solid action with the flip up and really nice interior, coms system fits fine on the same side as the drop down sun visor leaver and the vision out of the visor is excellent. Bit noisy but fine with ear plugs in and it is slightly draughty even with the chin curtain but a neck roll solves that.
Previous helmet a bell rs1 much better than that and as nicely finished as my old shoei however it is a heavy helmet but I get the impression most modular helmets are.
Perfect fit for me . Comfortable and not too much wind noise. This is my second Bell and I find they fit me extremely well Solidly made and I know it will protect me in the unfortunate event that it needs too.
my first flip up helmet and is surprisingly
comfortable with glasses
a bit of wind noise and drafty under the chin guard
i like the dark built in sun visor
and the release buckle is easy to use
Better than the expensive Arai it has replaced
