The Nexx X.WED 2 helmet is classy enough to give premium manufacturers a run for their money... in most regards
Customers have mixed opinions about this helmet. While some praise its comfort, extra features, and wide field of view, others criticize its build quality, specifically the flimsy visor mechanism and high weight. The internal sun visor is commonly noted as being too short, leading some to remove or adjust it. The helmet's design allows for easy customization and fitting of communication systems, but issues with fit and minor design flaws limit its appeal for some users.
Usually wear a shoe GT Air, this is not the same quality but it is half the price.
Sun visor does not come down low enough for me and it if a fiddle to find the up and down tab.
Very comfortable once on
This helmet is one of the best helmets that I have owned, first adventure helmet, brilliant. quiet, wide view, fits well, room for comms unit & earphones, worn on long trips , Europe/Spain. My go to helmet for my adventure bike. Love it, can highly recommend.
Excellent helmet, Love the style and shape, it's a good fit and I really like the vision with the huge visor. Lots of extras in the box and also 5 year warranty extension. As always service from Sportsbikeshop is second to none, price matched and delivered the next day. Fantastic.
I'd read a fair bit on the helmet before I purchased it, it's better than I expected, great fit, comfortable, visors are easy to use with gloves on, noise decent as well, finally the colours are better than the photos, nothing to complain about unusual for me tbh
Great helmet, always been an Arai
man but great value helmet with a sun screen too. So far so good, little wind noise even at above legal speeds, good in rain too, no leaks, no fog on visor, just takes a bit of getting used to with the visor lift in the centre, but I'm sure I will overcome this
First adventure helmet, large size fits my big head well.
Plastic side clips snapped but replaced under warranty really quickly, especially being Island based.
Love how it looks, super comfy and true to size. It's true about the sun visor coming down a bit short but honestly not a problem, I just rock the helmet a little forward if I really need to. Airflow seems adequate enough though I've not tested in the height of summer.
A great helmet that fits perfect. Comes with lots of extras and spare parts. Plenty of room to fit coms. Easy to remove the peek if you want to. I would recommend
Not so much a review but a first impressions opinion as I returned this helmet after trying on.
Upon trying the helmet on, it just felt too heavy on my neck and it felt and looked very bulky aesthetically.
I tend to wear HJC or Shoei (of Carbon construction if available in the model I want)
Aside from that the interior felt comfortable and the helmet comprises most of the features you would want on a "touring helmet"
Returns process was a doddle thanks to Sportsbikeshop's brilliant customer service.
Not exactly a budget helmet but the quality shines through was perfect shape for my head never had that breaking in period and all the parts are tight fitting and good quality even comes with plenty of spares too which is a first for me
Sizing is about 2 sizes too small. But even if it fitted, this helmet is badly designed.
The internal visor switch is flimsy and looks unfinished with rough edges plastic. The internal visor doesn't drop low enough either.
The chin vent is very loose - so much that it doesn't stay open and oncoming wind would close it.
I've got no idea how this was awarded a 'best buy' status. I had high hopes for this helmet and it's turned out to be a waste of time. I'll spend a little extra on the Airoh Commander.
Sportsbikeshop as always, excellent service and returns policy.
Fantastic lid very comfy .comes with a lot of extra addons .only part I have to say to release the visor is a bit flimsy
As has become familiar now, my experience with SBS has been outstanding. From calling the helpline to get guidance on booking a helmet fitting, then the attentive (but not excessively so!) help with fitting in the immaculate store at Bristol and sorting me out with a tricky pinlock fitting (I was riding away with the new lid), everything was spot on, thank you. Nexx X.Wed 2 (random letter generator?) superbly comfortable and well kitted out helmet for the money. Love it!
Purchased the Nexx XWED 2 and although comfy, it is certainly not up to Arai Standards, the lining isn't as soft. I have 60.5 cm head and purchased a size Large, it was a snugg fit but it did loosen up after a few rides and now fits real nice. Great vison through the large visor. People mention about the clips for the removal of the Peak being soft, I agree, they are, but, once you get the hang of how to remove the clips they are not an issue, my helmet came with spare clips so all good. I found the front chin vent did not give the air flow I was hoping for in the summer months (for summer you are best off using the mesh insert rather than the rocker vent as it lets more air in). During winter I found that the standard rocker chin vent did not shut off enough air in the winter so you get the cold air coming through, best worn with balaclava or neck tube in colder months to cover your chin/mouth. With the top vents i didnt notice much difference in open or close but my motorcycle has a large screen so this doesnt help with venting. For those wanting to fit a Cardo Packtalk, I used the sticky mounting plate (as the clip mounting wouldnt fit properly due to helmet internals) and fitted the sticky plate just in front of the Nexx mounting plate, all fitted ok. one thing to note: if using the 45mm JBL speakers with the Packtalk Black, the speakers are to large for the speaker cutouts in the plastic trim, so you will have to open these up using a dremmel or something similar, or stick with the standard size packtalk speakers. In regards to noise, difficult to say as I ride a VRF1200x and anything above 70mph you get wind turbulence from the screen which resonates through the helmet (notice more when wearing ear pluggs) and this also affects your vision. (not so bad with the visor removed) this could be more down to my motorcyle screen though. so over all, an ok helmet but not exceptional.
Easy to see why Ride mag gave this a best buy rating, fit is definitely on the snug side but this makes it quiet on the road, it's not the same build quality as a Shoei but then again it's not in the same price bracket. This is a very good helmet with all the features you need for touring.
Been looking for an adventure helmet for some time now, tried lots on in sportsbikeshop. This one for me was the most comfortable. My head measures 55cm around with no hair so I ordered a small and a medium to try on. The medium is a perfect fit which is 57-58. The helmet is very good quality, the cheaper adventure helmets I tried had very flimsy plastic parts for the air vents etc, but this one is very well made. I was a bit worried about the noise due to the helmet having a peak but there was no need to be worried, it is very quiet with no issues. Overall, very happy with my purchase. Would definitely recommend, just order 2 or 3 sizes to try on before you buy.
I tested this out with a weekend camp and ride and so far I like it. The usual rubbing as head meets new padding, but it fits my fairly round head well.
Point of note, I broke the little tag on the left side of the visor very easily after fitting the pin lock. SBS kindly sent a replacement, which also broke instantly. I was being gentle with it both times. The locks that attach the peak are a bit dodgy too, and very easy to twist off and break too.
I wanted a good adventure helmet with an integral sun visor and it's surprising that most of them do not include this. The Nexx has not disappointed and is as good as the magazine reviews indicated. My only issue was that it's American made and I still had to go up a size, my head must be really big... just something to think about. Cheers!
