Ignore the touring claims and this smart jacket from Rev'it has a lot going for it...
After trying different clothing systems for adventure and trail riding over the last 5 years, I found that layering works best for me, as I can quickly adjust it to changing conditions. With jackets, I normally wear merino base layer, Alpinestars Bionic Tech V3 body amour, and this jacket on top, to provide abrasion resistance. If the weather get's bad, I may put a fleece between the body armour and the jacket and put a waterproof jacket on top of this.
I normally wear jackets in size Large, but because of the body armour and the extra space needed for thermal layers, I ordered this jacket in size XL and it fits very well.
Over the last 16 months, I found this jacket to be great for dry weather above 12°C. When riding technical trails, I'm normally very warm, so having mesh jacket really helps with cooling down, especially during sections between the trails, where the speed is higher and I can get some air flow. If I I have to ride on a motorway for over an hour and the temperature is below 16°C, then I normally put on a thermal layer or a waterproof jacket on top, just to stop the wind / chill.
This jacket is Class A certified for abrasion resistance, which is not great if you have to spend a lot of time on the motorway. However, I'm prepared to take it easy on the tarmac, to get offroad benefits that this jacket offers.
I wish there was a system from Revit to connect this jacket to the Territory trousers, to keep the two garments connected on the back. Plenty of road gear has this, so I'm not sure why they don't include the zips in the more offroad orientated clothing.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and I'd buy this jacket again.
BTW - even though Territory range from Revit has matching pants in Grey, both garments are slightly different in colour. Not a biggy, but something to note if you care about how your outfit looks.
I bought this as i was fed up with baking on trail rides. This is a great jacket for trail riding on hot days with cool air passing through the mesh. The level 1 armour in the shoulders and elbows is adequate for my needs but i wouldn't wear the jacket for long road trips without extra protection. I haven't marked it down for this as to be fair Rev'it do sell the Proteus armoured underjacket to go with this jacket, it's just that it looks too bulky and restrictive for my personal liking. I use separate chest and back protectors with it as it doesn't have any. I ordered the largest size so i could use extra armour and also with it billowing slightly you get extra air! Overall it feels good quality and has decent zips that look like they will last. It has very useful pockets. I couldn't stand the cuff loops over my thumbs so pushed them under the sleeves and the sleeves haven't ridden up without them. I pondered a while on whether to spend this much but i'm so glad i did as it's a lovely jacket and just what i wanted.
I left it late ordering this for an event but as always SBS dispatched quickly and it came in time.
Looks and feels a sturdy, quality product. Sizing is tight, I should have gone a size up.
I noticed that "Itchy Boots" was using this jacket for her travels up through the Americas, where the temperatures are pretty extreme!
I went and tried it on in the Boston shop, and with the high temperature we've been experiencing used it all the time. Its very well made and with the air flowing through it, keeps me pretty cool.
It has armour too, and added bonus.
All in all a great bit of kit.
The CE certified Territory mesh jacket is ideal for riders taking on the trails in hotter climates.
