If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Customers have shared positive experiences with these trousers, highlighting their comfort and quality. The sizing tends to run small, so many opted to size up. Customers appreciated features like adjustable knee protectors, removable braces, and ample pockets. The trousers perform well in cold weather, with some noting they stayed warm and dry during rides. Although the leg openings are generously sized, which eases wearing over boots, some felt the fastening could be more secure. Overall, customers are pleased with their purchase and find them worthwhile.
Great quality throughout. Fabrics, fastenings, stitching, zips all of a high standard. Almost to ankle, removable warm inner lining. Good design features including zip vents on thighs, elasticated braces, and waist / belt adjusters. Fits a bit smaller than you might expect. Large size with short leg was perfect. I'm 29in inside leg and 33 waist.
I'm 6ft 3 with a 36" waist, orded an XL fits great. adjusted the knee protection down slightly and fits perfect. The ankle cuffs are velcro but I don't find a requirement to undo them, just set the cuffs to get over my boots and leave them done up.
Lots of ventilation, pockets, I've been using them to commute and have been comfortable down to 0 degrees, it hasn't been colder. This included hail and rain, stayed completely dry.
Great bottoms feel good
Bought the jacket as a stand alone jacket, but couldn't resist getting the matching trousers as SBS had knocked £80 off. The usual high quality you expect from RST. I read the reviews before purchasing and took the advice and sized up a size. And glad I did. Only worn them for a rather cold ride up to the Peak District and back again, and no complaints so far.
Great piece of kit although fits slightly on small side. I now intend to buy the Jacket to match its that good
These seem like a really well made pair of textiles trousers. True to size, I'm 6ft and normally wear 32/32 jeans and need a belt and these fit me well but quite neat so if you find 32 waist jeans on the tight side maybe consider going a size up. The regular leg length is fine for me. The leg bottoms are quite wide and only secured by velcro and don't fasten really tight round the ankle. They seem comfortable and warm. I've not had a chance to test out the water proofing yet but plenty of reviews say they are fine. All in all very pleased and the reduced price was welcome. SBS service is, as always second to none.
I bought these on the back of other recommendations and so far I am not disappointed.
Worn once on a 2 hr ride around the Cotswolds they kept me dry and warm.
They are well made and the removable thermal liner is zipped in and I didn't feel the zips when wearing them..( not worn them without the liner yet)
I bought a large which is labelled as waist 34, they are true to size and a good fit, the legs fit over my winter boots easily and can be tightened down using the velcro straps.
Excellent service from Sportsbikeshop. Bought these and a pair of jeans for my daughter. The jeans were quickly exchanged for the correct size. As for the RST Ambush trousers I am 36 waist 31 inch inside leg. I opted for the 2XL Short. Perfect fit. Very happy.
I haven't ridden with these in heavy rain yet, but I have worn them in low temps, less than 4deg. They are warm , comfortable and match my RST jacket perfectly. I would recommend. As other have said they come up a size smaller to try on if you can.
Great pair of trousers with lots of pockets and protector inserts. Comfortable on long rides. Compared to my old RST trousers, the sizing don't seem to match and needed a size bigger (which is not really an issue with SBS's returns).
Bought these along with the jacket. They are great value, lightweight and warm. Good pockets and the zips are sturdy. The braces are a great idea and easily detachable if you don't want them. The opening at the bottom of the trousers is larger than you would normally get but makes getting boots on a breeze.
The only issue I found was the sizing I ended up buying two sizes up from what I would normally get but as I bought it through the Harlow branch on the try before you buy scheme it meant I could order a couple of different sizes without the hassle of having to send them back. Thanks to the staff there and thanks to SBS for great service.
The sizing on these trousers is a bit strange I had to order an Xl as large where too small.
I'm 12st and 5ft 8 so would recommend trying on in store not buying online.
Very warm with lots of pockets, bottom of the trousers could do with a zip instead of velcro but overall a nice set of trousers goes great with the jacket.
My old trousers gave up the ghost after 7 years of constant use , so went for these ambush trousers, never used the brand before , but being retired had to save some pennies. Well made and great fit ( went a size up ) I like that you can adjust knee protectors to suit there position, also removed braces as waist Velcro ties work well , I haven't used winter liner yet but the liners fit the bottom of the leg with a zip so much better than a popper attachment that rides up , Great trousers at a good price I know they'll last quite a while , brilliant purchase ps liked them so much bought jacket next day Yee Haa
These kept my legs dry and very toasty in a long cold and wet ride back from Wales, I would recommend getting at least a size up from what you would normally wear as they are a small fit around the waist.
I got the RST Ambush as a replacement for my RST x-raid jeans.
The Ambush jeans are very comfortable and are a slightly more relaxed fit than the x-raid and better suited for longer journeys.
They've kept the rain out so all good. All in all, another great quality bit of kit from RST and excellent service (including aftersales) from Sportsbikeshop. Thank you.
Really well made and very comfortable. The service from SBS using the online order and try on at a local store was fantastic. The team in Milton Keynes were very knowledgeable and very patient, nothing was too much trouble and made the whole experience first class.
Many thanks.
Was looking for a pair of waterproof trousers which are still breathable so you stay dry inside and are functional, these fit the bill perfectly. Although I haven't tried them out yet.
Well made and very comfortable on and off bike. Sizing spot on, am 36 and XL fit a treat. Huge opening at bottom of legs which is so easy to get over adventure style boots. Included braces are a nice touch. So pleased with them will save up to get the matching jacket.

The removable liner is a thermal liner, and so the waterproof and breathable SinAqua lining isn't a removable part of the trousers I'm afraid.
With RST garments, a short leg is listed as less than 31", with a regular leg listed as between 31" and 33", and a long leg being greater than 33"
