Flipfront helmets don't have to cost a fortune. These five belters won't leave you bankrupt...
Customers find this Scorpion helmet to be a great fit, comfortable, and offering excellent value for money. It features minimal wind noise, a stable peak, and good ventilation, with included pinlock and removable peak. Some customers did face issues such as fogging, visor leaking during rain, and rattling vents. The helmet accommodates intercom systems well, but some found fitting challenging. Overall, it's praised for its versatility, comfort, and competitive pricing, although there are minor quality control concerns.
The shape is great the catches are sound the flip on opening is firm and doesn’t drop down the liner is very comfortable and also pops out so easy to fit coms
Helmet is true to size and has a good wide aperture. Pull down tint is fiddly at the side wearing gloves and I don’t linked the side lock to fix the front of the helmet raised or lowered - comfy to wear and pinlock was supplied and was fine. Easy to remove visor and you can take peak off also. Fitted my cardo easy and has recess for earphones
Noise levels are good.
Fit for me is good, specially as i have a fat head, and the flip front closes fine without issues like I had with my Caberg.
The peak does not catch the wind as you would expect.
Unfortunately after an hour or so it hurst like Hell!!
On a 4 day tour of Europe it caused too much pressure points on the right side of my head.
Also, the tinted visor slide button broke.
The helmet arrived next day and I’m really impressed. For the price it is well made and comfortable, initially a little tight but it is now bedding in well and gets more comfortable every ride.
The switch for the drop down sun visor is easy to find and use as are the vent sliders. So far it’s been a very positive experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a new helmet.
Medium fit is good, enough room for speakers in the recesses. Wind noise is excessive on motorways, but no flap from the peak as some reported. Very easy to swap visors or remove the peak. Replacement visors quite reasonably priced. Does tend to steam up at the bottom of the visor, below the line of the pinlock. But this doesn’t obstruct the view.
This is the second scorpion helmet I've had, the first being th ADX -1, which has lasted well. The ADX-2 is, I would say, just as good and as comfortable as my previous helment, It's quiet and the peak isn't effected by strong wind. For the price it's hard to beat, especially for a flip front helmet
This helmet is amazing for the price, I would expect this quality for a £250-£300 helmet. Quietist helmet I’ve ever owned, feels top quality inside and out, I cannot recommend this helmet enough. Especially with the pin lock included.
The only negative is the screws for the visor and peak can come lose if you don’t tighten them out the box and check every couple of rides. But this is an easy fix as the screws only need a penny to tighten and not a screwdriver.
This is my 2nd scorpion helmet and the quality is spot on as always. The flip mechanism feels sturdy and all works great. Amazing service from sbs arrived next working day best price as always very happy
My main helmet is a shoie neotec 2 so when I read reviews on scorpion adx I was a bit sceptical. Some people were saying it's a very heavy helmet and also noisy.I went out on quite a long ride today and I can say I'm very impressed, it's not that heavy or noisy and it also fits very well and is very comfortable.obviously it cant compare to the shoie but it a quarter of the price, overall very pleased.
Given its fit, features and quality this has to be one of the best value helmets around. Although probably not the choice for enduro or competition use, this is an excellent choice for trail riding with a mix off on/off road routes.
Great helmet for price, sun visor can wobble a little at speed but overall great quality and comfort.
Great quality helmet, comes with pinlock in the box, nice drop down sun visor and the flip up mechanism is smooth and easy to use. It's quiet too, highly recommended from me.
So after 3 seasons it was time to replace my ADX2 and yet to find another equivalent within my price range so went for the same again. Only lost one side visor screw but cheap enough on Ebay. The versatility of 3 riding options is what I enjoy of this helmet. Helmet was in stock and was with me in 2 days, great service.
Snug fit, tried loads but this is great for my big head! Outstanding service from Sportsbikeshop as always. Cheers guys.
Picked this helmet as it was a flip to use when touring. Not used it yet but I'm sure it will be fine, if it has issues how bad can they be for £150 ! But what I really want to applaud is the SBS exchange process/service.
I ordered the helmet but it was too small, needed to go up a size. Ordered a returns request, used the excellent packaging, sent it back on a Thursday, replacement was with me on the Saturday. How brilliant is that??
I've tried a few flip up helmets but this one had the best fitting for my head and face. It's quiet dot a sun visor and with it's own ecom system, it is perfect. The weight is also pretty much the same as other flip up helmets in my opinion.
I have been using an old Schuberth C3 while trail riding my 500excf. As a spectacle wearing rider it is imperative tgat I wear a flip front helmet otherwise I can't see where I'm going on the trails as the heat you can generate on tricky rides is incredible. Very handy when you stop and want to talk in a group as well. Mu friend has a Scorpion and I liked it's look and lightness.....compared to the old C3 anyway. I have used it on a day long ride in the wet and cold Mid December Welsh trails and it has been incredible. I found it just as quiet as my old C3. Great price now as well at 150 quid from the best supplier in the UK.
You are quite correct.
