After ordering 3 pairs of boots from SBS (Excellent return service BTW) I settled on these well made (Germany) boots. Fit the bill perfectly. Went half a size up which fitted well. Nice wide openings for those with bigger calfs. Can wear my textile trousers over or tuck them in.

These boots haven't been out in the wet yet so I can't say if truly waterproof however they are comfortable and easy to live with thus far . I would recommend these if looking for comfort and easy to walk in so far.
