I've a lot of helmets, I admit it, and expensive ones at that! So, I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is! I bought this to be my touring lid, and added comms to it so I can connect to my pals on a recent bike camping trip, and this helmet did not disappoint. I love the versatility of this lid, and riding it with the face open, chin guard tucked right at the back so it doesn't get affected by the airflow was, to me, a game changer, particularly in this hot weather. My only reservation before buying was the overall size of it, I'm a size small so thankfully it is the smallest of their 3 shell sizes, but having compared to other modular helmets, I now understand that it is as small as you're going to get in a helmet of this type, and LS2 have done a brilliant job of trimming it down. Let me further add that my pals each have modular helmets but their chin guards only go up so far, not over the back like the LS2 Advant II, this caused some light-hearted jealous comments amongst the group, and so of course I made the point of opening up the face as often as possible and threw in the odd quip as you do! I tried the LS2 on in a shop and compared it to another reputable and long standing brand (mentioning no names) with the same features and surprisingly the LS2 felt by far the better quality helmet, much more plush, better quality materials, the action of the movable parts felt more precise, and having the removable chin curtain only added to the quality feel. This is also my first helmet with the internal sun visor and this means that I now don't have to carry multiple visors on touring trips and longer journeys. In addition, this is glasses compatible and my reading glasses, or sunglasses slide onto my face so easily when wearing the helmet, no snagging, no pinch points and no temple pressure. Back to speaking of comms, the helmet does have predefined recesses with pull out foam inserts for running a comm system in it, though as my system isn't LS2, and probably the speakers on mine are a millimetre or so thicker, I did have to cut away the plastic housing and reduce the depth of the Polystyrene inner shell by approx 2mm just to stop the speakers from pressing against my ears and causing discomfort, but it was a neat enough job and with the speakers installed, they just look part of the helmet. That said, LS2 have done a really nice job of designing the accommodation of comms into the interior and I'm sure their own system fits perfectly. Now I have this set up just for me, I will be grabbing this lid off my shelf more and more! This is a shame for my day-to-day helmet of choice, my 'John Doe One' helmet which is arguably way cooler in terms of styling…but just not a patch on the LS2 for practicality! Good job LS2, I would definitely recommend to others.
