These items have saved me a lot of cash in the past, from a simple let down to a full slide they have kept my fairings unscathed. That is until I high sided recently and the crash protector bent in the frame. Such is life.

R&G standard round crash bobbins use de-embrittled high-tensile steel bolts which are designed to bend on impact rather than to shear or snap.
