Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...

Fantastic looking jacket, however I found I needed an XL mainly for the hand/cuff area. The waterproofing is excellent so far, and the armour is incredibly well hidden to the point I use this as a normal jacket. Overall, excellent jacket especially if you pick it up on sale.
I have been wanting to get a triple Layer Laminate jacket due to Britain's famously variable weather but so far all the options that fit comfortably were heavy and full of straps. First surprise with this jacket is it's very light compared to equivalents. I mean you can throw it on like a normal coat and it looks like one too.
Once on you do notice the slight stiffness of the laminate fabric but it is fitted with more flexible panels in places making it easy to move around in. Zip appears a high quality water resistant item and the thermal waistcoat liner does its job though makes the biceps and elbow feal a bit restricted. The Armour is D30 style panels on the shoulders and elbows that you barely notice until you flex the elbows fully, but no back panel is included and if you want one, it does have to be a Spidi specific one as there is no back pouch, only 2 velcro tabs.
I say this is a water resistant jacket because whilst the blue sections are definitely waterproof with the rain just streaming off it, the black panels are not, possibly being the ventilation panels and they do absorb water. The water doesn't manage to penetrate though, but it does get held in these panels increasing drying time and carry weight. My entire upper body was kept dry though and relatively warm during and after the wet, rain soaked CBT.
Whilst not quite a full winter jacket this is a solid purchase for the more autumn/spring time cooler/wetter days item to wear that, when the bikes parked, can be used as a normal jacket. I am yet to see how it is on warm or summer days, but for the price its a very capable jacket.
Nice styling. Can take out armour and wear casually winter too. Keeps you dry in wet weather but outer layer takes a while to dry after being in a downpour. Maybe size up if you are not slim
I needed a replacement waterproof jacket as the weather is changing and more frequent showers every week, this jacket looked just the thing and at the discounted price I didn’t hesitate, I would suggest to try on first as I found I neede a size bigger than my usual, the jacket is comfortable looks good imo warm and most of all has kept the rain out so far on two occasions I have been caught out in showers ! Nothing too harsh but my old jacket would not have kept me dry as the spidi did, for the price I paid I would recommend it.
I haven’t worn this jacket yet. Seems well made. Good quality. Size M true to size. Just wish it came with ghost armour. Able to replace armour in the sleeves but the pocket for the shoulders is too small to take ghost armour. Great service from SBS as usual
