Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
I bought a Sml, fit was good around the shoulders under arms and chest, it’s well made and I have no doubt it will vent well in this heatwave, you can add single or divided chest protection which is great, I preferred the latter. A small is 40, but I needed a 38 to get a fully fitted feel, especially around the forearms and wrist, it’s just too baggy, if Alpinestars had their zipped cuffs they normally do on leathers, that would have been perfect!
Much better than thumb hoops! Nice choice of colours, I wasn’t convinced on the belt hoops either, a short zip would have been better. The 38 size would have been perfect for my small waist but they are rare to find, I’ve always had AS as it fits me best. The armour is Nucleon level 2 and you don’t feel it when on not as flexible as plasma, I’m old school and did wonder if this would hold up in a spill. I added the plasma level 2 full back protector, it fitted and contoured my back really well, also added the plasma level 1 divided chest protection, hands down super comfortable and you do feel better protected, I know why some manufacturers forget about chest protection. So I’m waiting to try a 38, SBS…. What can I say, blimey! They are just the dogs walnuts, great prices and their postal service for peeps in the middle of no where is 5Stars for SBS, 4 for the troop air pro, due to the points raised.
Looks cool and feels cool.
Well made and good protection
I bought this to wear under a Tech Air 3 V2. it's comfortable and gives a lot of ventilation. I swapped out the back and chest armour from my old Alpinestars Andes jacket, it's great that Alpinestars don't keep changing the size and shape of armour on their products. It offers no water resistance so you will need a waterproof outer shell for wet or cold riding.
Coming from the Knox Urbane Mk 2 XL. The Troop Air Pro in XL is a little larger, so in-between a shirt and a jacket for me with lots of pockets and a slightly looser fit, which suits me fine. Seems to flow air better too. Recommended
Got this for the UK summer we’re having, riding at 25+c on my V4 gets hot! This lets loads of air through and is AA. Plus if you size up you can run an airbag vest underneath. Looks cool too…
